I'm back on my grind again. I was on track for quite some time but COVID excuse started to get the better of me. Started eating carbs and takeout again and started buying packs of cigs. This virus is never going to end, so have to put a stop to it.

Current goal is to make it to Thanksgiving with only 50 calories a day or less of steamed milk in the espresso

Bumping only because I'm looking for info:

I'm trying to prevent my hair from falling out during these long fasts and am curious if anybody has any supplementation ideas. I'm starting a multivitamin that has the basics covered, along with starting biotin, keratin, and zinc on top of my usual electrolyte supplementation of sodium, potassium, and magnesium.

I suffered from this when I did VLC for years. There's no cure for it, and as a guy, you might want to think about another way of losing weight other than these extended fasts now.

Have you thought about lifting heavy and doing Crossfit type training? Military type training? Progress will be slower, but at least it'll still happen without you going bald.

Lol this thread is always so demotivating.

I've thought about just doing a ton of cardio and bodyweight exercises tbh given the current situation. I think this may be my last extended fast longer than a week.

Status: Hungry as fuk. Haven't eaten or smoked cigs since Saturday night.

Surprisingly easy on the cigs, was up to half a pack a day to a pack per day for 3-4 months. No physical withdrawal of note, cravings occasionally but know it would make me nauseous as hell during the fast so not very hard to resist.

Well boyos, I chit the bed.

No, I didn't break the fast early, I literally **** on my bed from a sleep fart. Any of you who have ever fasted know that farts aren't to be trusted, but never has my body betrayed me during sleep like this.

Oh well, lets get it on with the vinegar and bleach. Day 8 son

Back on the wagon after breaking keto for a few months during the winter, going to kick off a 7 day fast as a reset and then go into a low carb OMAD routine with more carbs on cardio days and < 30g on non-cardio days

In. I've been fasting for 6 days(refeed and weigh every Thursday) at a time with SnakeJuice. This stuff is extremely legit and I've lost over 15kg.
Had to get my metabolism back this weekend though because I got reservist stuff and I won't be able to fast for a while.
Can't wait to lose the rest of it when I get back to fasting.

By the way I think extended fasting is retarded. Go for results not for the longest streak.
My current goal is weightloss. Once I hit goal weight, I'll stop with the long fasts. just IF and maybe weekends.

Once this is over I'm sticking with OMAD and never getting lax again. Retracing lost progress is nowhere near as enjoyable as new progress. Massively hungry right now, deserve this though.

Back on the horse, well soon anyway. Kind of drank a whole lot of beer the past week between training, so I'm scared to step on the scales.
Did you know fasting hastens the Norwood reaper, especially really extended fasts.
Gotta commit seriously and be done with being a fatass so you don't also lose all your hair in the process of unphucking yourself

I honestly don't think I would have had any issues with the reaper if not for fasting. It only ever progressed beyond mature hairline while on no calories or very low. It is the one downside.

I broke my fast last night with a pork banh mi I had been craving. Lost around 8 pounds. Doing OMAD and some 36/48s intermittently is my short term plan now

GJ boyo. Bahn Mi seems tasty
I'm not into keto only refeeds. it's faster weightloss, but I can't stand the detox stuff. The itchy red rash I get all over in deep ketosis is the worst. So yeah I also refeed with carby stuff.
As long as we're making progress, a little indulgent refeeds are okay, right?

I've always had a mature hairline, even as a kid. Hope it won't get much worse

I recently fasted for 2 days, nothing serious. Most I've ever done was 5 days. Not a good tool to lose weight imo. I just did it for the experience.

Im doing a test right now to see if I can offset some low carb (but not ketosis low) with cardio. I.e. just deplete them as they come in.

It is quite an experience and has benefits from that angle alone. However, I think it has proven to be a great weight loss tool for the obese, especially the sedentary.

I had taken off 150-160 lbs in a year with it. When you are grossly overweight I think the more extreme interventions are better, and you work out the more permanent lifestyle maintainence when not one pasta bowl away from diabetes

I'm going to do a 72 hour fast starting Sunday night.

From what I've read/watched you have to break your fast in a very specific way or you gain most of the weight back. Has anyone found this to not be true?

My plan is to just have water and mix in some salt for 72 hours then have bone broth to break it, a bunch of chicken breast an hour after that and a rice cake.

Then the next day have something similar for breakfast and by lunch I'll be good.

The fast breaking becomes medically important on very long fasts because of refeeding syndrome, but it's just not much of an issue for the majority of people and the durations we do. Biggest practical risk is chitting your pants if you refeed too hard and fast

In terms of weight loss, any time you go into ketosis/deplete glycogen, you expel a bunch of water and therefore weight. The second you load back up on glycogen, usually by reintroducing carbs, the water will be retained again and you get an offsetting increase in weight. It's meaningless other than the slim unbloated feel of having less water or more.

I will definitely try to avoid chitting my pants or my bed. Not trusting any farts for a whole week is going to be interesting.

Where it will probably get you eventually is in sleep if you aren't careful to think about that sort of thing when it comes to meal timing.

With the weather having finally broken its pattern of being terrible, I've been getting my walking in every day. At least 5 miles, but aiming for closer to 10 mile walk per day. It's making a huge difference in mood for me along with the fasting. I'm pumped for Daylight Savings Time to arrive and to be start doing even longer walks and bike rides to new places after work with the extra sun hours.

OMAD feeling like easy mode now. One of my favorite parts about an extended fast, in that coming back onto a routine that is still restrictive doesn't subjectively feel all that restrictive after a week of nothing.

    Hello all,

I did not know about this thread. I fast to lose weight. I have never taken any electrolytes during my fasts. When I graduated from college I was a whopping 190 lbs. I started exercising again and got down to about 180 before I hit a wall. I was doing IF as well as exercising. One day I tore my ACL and I was handicap. Being handicap and unable to exercise made me try prolonged fasting in order to not balloon in weight because knee injuries in the past led to weight gain. I didn't just stop the weight gain, I went from 180ish to 159 one day through an OMAD approach that eventually transitioned to multiple fasts of 48-72 hours. I went up to 170 once my knee recovered because I was lifting again. Quarantine hit and I went from 170 all the way to about 185 again because there was no gym and no motivation.

I have a vacation planned on the 17th, so what I have done is begin a fast to try to cut as much as possible. I am at 178 lbs right now on hour 71 and my goal is 100. Im deeply curious as to everyone else's experiences wit fasting and hope to one day hit a week!

As of about 74 hours in, this is the most intense hunger I think I have ever felt. Its a very strong psychological hunger. As a crack cocaine user, this is much much stronger than that.

I often do 24-48 hour fasts to get myself feeling back on track. My longest fast was 5 days and I passed out on the first day of college and spent the day at the hospital with a concussion and eyebrow scar and the nurse made me eat. Won’t be going that hard again

Fasting is effective for me, but as a chick I’m not really worried about losing muscle but feeling lighter and self-disciplined. I’m mentally I’m more motivated when I feel skinny already? Might not be the healthiest mindset but it works for me

Mirin y’all multi day folks. Most I can do is 24 hrs on OMAD and even then I feel like I’m on the verge of a blood sugar crisis towards the end.
