Especially right now - with the downtime from COVID, some markets have very, very thin stock on trucks.
Get the 36 gallon extended range gas tank.
Avoid the panoramic sunroof. It's an expensive option, sometimes they leak, sometimes they come off the track, they reduce headroom, they let in more heat from the sun in summer (even shade closed), and they reduce your payload and weigh you down because, well, they are kind of heavy.
Stock vs stock, the 2.7 3.5 and 5.0, all other options equal, are basically a heads up drag race where anybody could win at any given drop of the green. But the ecos have significantly more low and mid range torque and feel noticeably quicker and more lively in regular driving, and the 3.5 is the strongest tower of any half ton truck on the market. And slap a tune on to wake 'em up, and the ecos leave everything else in the dust, especially an 18+ tuned 3.5 because they get the same turbos as the 3.5 Raptor engine as of 2018...yeah buddy...pegging boost meter at 21+ PSI and aggressive timing to make use of 93 octane it ****ing flies
If you want to save some money and just get the 'essentials', look at an XL STX. If you want to get something that starts to feel luxury/premium/lots of nice options, the big jump is going to a Lariat.
Oh yeah, the tailgate step is worth it

I have parking sensors. I had to turn them off. I kept backing up and it'd start beeping like crazy when nothing was behind me, and then it would just slam on the breaks. Felt like I hit something every time. Would scare the chit out of me. No idea why it would happen, but they don't work correctly. I do not need my car randomly slamming on the breaks lol
All that nonsense is why their cars are so freaking expensive these days, and most don't work right. lmaoLast edited by Unstumpable; 08-19-2020 at 06:45 PM.

Mine have been great for backing up. Somehow it combines the reverse sensors and the blind spot monitors to create cross traffic alert, it literally alerts to cross traffic (cars, bikes, or pedestrians) coming down a parking lot aisle or similar before you can see them. Like, literally impossible to see them due to the vehicles on your side blocking your view, but it'll beep and tell you on the dash (not that you're ever looking at the dash while backing out of a spot in a parking lot lol) which side they are coming from. Outstanding for people who walk and talk without paying any attention or go flying through parking lots. The backup camera is great too, you can look and see what's there, no dogs, kids, bikes, FOD, and even if you get false alerts from the sensors, like when backing out of a garage, you can use the camera to know when there actually IS something and it's not just a false alert this time (like when your empty garbage can got blown out from the side of the driveway to behind where you park, and tipped over there).
With the yukon XL backup up it was like, alright, here I go, good luck everybody else!

My Nissan Rogue has this too, blind spot and rear sensors, they are amazing. Also the 360 cameras which make parking in tight spots easy, both are features I now hate going without.
We still have a lot of mid 90's Ford vans for transports, with the cage in the back you only have side mirrors when backing up, hate those so much; the new vans we just got are much nicer and have a backup camera but sometimes we still get stuck with an old one.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

Oh yeah there's a lot I like about it. The 360 degree camera is sweet. And I love having the blind spot sensors in the mirrors. Once I turned off the setting to stop it from breaking on its own it's been all gucci. Still gives me all the alerts, but without breaking randomly.

Best van story I have: Me and my friend get held at 2100 (shift was supposed to be over at 2200) for a hospital trans, an inmate was in a fight a bit earlier and hit the other guy so hard it looks like he broke his own arm. Bad ass.
So we go and there is only one van available, rest are out or in the garage for repair, van B-49. We get the van and go to the vehicle sally port to get the inmate, headlights don't work. Awesome.
Plenty of light around the prison so no big deal right now, we can deal with that later. Get to the sally port and go to put the inmate in the van, the back cage has a door that is held shut by a C clamp that is held in place with a metal pin. There is no metal pin, instead there is a pencil holding it in place. This is getting better and better.
Fck it, we put the inmate in, use the pencil to hold the lock in place and get going; dark as hell taking back roads to a hospital that is luckily only 8 miles away; we are holding our flashlights out the window to light the road. Can't believe how dumb this is.
Going about 60 mph and come up on a sign that says "S curve ahead slow to 25 mph"; I have never taken this way before. Being I am over confident I just keep doing 60 because YOLO.
Road starts to turn... and keeps turning, and turning; iregretthisdecision.jpg
Hit the brakes and spin the wheel, this is a very tight turn. Van goes up on 2 wheels for about 30 feet, my friend is saying something about not wanting to die in a state van... hit a slight straight part of the road and we go back to all 4 wheels.
Lesson learned, took the other part of the turn at 15 mph and did the same on the way back. Didn't get back until about 0430.
This is why I only do transports if I have to, never volunteer.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.

Can anyone tell me if the price of AR .22 LR conversion kits have gone up in price? Average price looks to be around $200 min which seems like I wouldn't be getting gouged to bad regardless.
Also, what is the wear and tear like compared to .223? I imagine it would be less and easier on the barrel.

The ones that aren’t always out of stock are definitely more expensive now. If you look at some video reviews from the past, they are often pretty enthusiastic about the affordable price. Now it’s easily in the $200 region. Look how ridiculous this is:

Thanks and was looking at other sites than CTD. Conversion kit was one of those items I've been meaning to pick up for ages and just never got around to it. Now I am tempted to just put it off even longer if I am going to get gouged significantly.
Both. Plinking and also want to be training with my AR. I have plenty of 5.56 and would not feel too guilty tapping into my stockpile, but if I can save a little $ longterm then it is a bonus.

Too many of these parking lots
Also can't access the tailgate and bed in a lot of parking lots/spaces if you back in
Also also, in a crowded lot, the jackwagons behind you will often follow so close that if you go to back in they'll all drive up your ass to the point that everybody has to backup to make room for you to back in since they weren't expecting it and are jackwagons so sometimes it's just easier and safer and quicker and more convenient to pull in

I got turned off to GM when they were going through the bankruptcy. At the same time there was a recall on their ignition switches and multiple people had been killed as a result. They knew about this issue for years, which if I remember correctly spending a few cents extra would have resolved. Regardless, they knew for years and didn't issue the recall. After 100+ people died, they issued the recall. Then argued in court that because they were going through bankruptcy, they shouldn't be subject to lawsuits from the families of the people who died. They lost and they tried going all the way to the Supreme Court to fight it.
Everything depends upon execution; having just a vision is no solution.

gotta brake check before you get to the spot to get them to back off. lol. Fair points though. I still prefer to back in or pull through. I park towards the back where it's less crowded, so normally I can get to the tailgate if needed (which is rare).

made my weekly trip to Academy. 20 people there at opening. No .45, .38, .380, .556, .22lr. 9mm and .40 were gone in 5 minutes (before my turn). Had some .357 and something else, but everything was gone by time I was done browsing the outdoors section. About 45 minutes. They did have some .308, x39, .243, and other hunting rounds. No 12 g 00 buck.
Sold 500 rds of UMC 9mm for $190 to a friend this morning. Not selling any more ammo.☆ MissChill Appreciation Crew ☆ Owner ☆ Σ ☆

Pull through is almost always best if it's available, backing up is just an increased risk of everything and to be avoided when possible. Gotta be careful at places like home depot though, those jackwagons don't always comprehend and will park right behind you. Like, great, so much room to load this mulch with you 2 feet off my bumper...stagger dude!

I have rear sensors in my Ford and I like em. My dad has a '17 GMC Z71 Denali that has a backup sensor where the seat vibrates as a an alarm. I can't fukn stand that thing. I was trying to back the boat trailer down the ramp a couple weeks ago and the vibrator keep freaking me out and making me think I'd hit something

I have the lowest-amenitied vehicle in the house by a country mile. Pretty much just the basics for an Xterra. But it's a tank that just runs.
We have 3 Gen 2 Ford Escape XLTs. Wife and daughter have the heated leather seats, sunroof, sync, climate control, backup camera and warnings, etc. Son's Escape doesn't have leather or backup cam/sensors but has pretty much everything else. He DID have all that in the first Escape that he totaled.*MFC Elder Statesmen Cabinet Crew*
