Maybe some Natty Light Ice....the college kids are drinking this stuff called Lost Lake now. It’s super cheap and about the worst beer I have ever had. Maybe $6 a 12 pack. Awful, awful stuff.

When the university banned kegs in the fraternities (we had one tapped 24/7) and went to BYOB parties, we'd load up troughs with Keystone, Keystone Light, PBR and Old Milwaukee. Those were the days. Was a Taco Bell 2 houses down from the frat house.

Don't recall ever receiving oil with a gun. S&W has no specific recommendation in the owner's manual. I presume Remington recommends Rem Oil. Who cares?
Most stuff- oil, parts, or whatever- included or recommended by good to go rifle manufactures is probably "good enough". Wouldn't make it the best, and it may not even be very desirable. Aftermarket is king of most things, but you already know this.

There's no analogy or correlation whatsoever between the topic at hand, and optics included with rifles.

Triggers? So far the best trigger I own came with the firearm. Geissele SSA-E X with lighting bow.

The trigger on my M&P 2.0? You mean my pistol that is one of the least expensive options in its category, one of the main selling points being that it's even cheaper than a Glock? Wait, why are we talking about what trigger a gun comes with to evaluate automobile oils? lol, what??

PS: You are disagreeing with me because I opposed the claim that there is one singular oil that is objectively superior to all others. You aren't doing a very good job, and talking about the subjective feels preference of triggers isn't doing you any favors

About the same here....remember Schuler’s? It was like a knock off Keystone. Also back in the days when Waffle House had AYCE. It’s a wonder I’m not 300lbs.

Don't remember seeing Schuler's out here. Keystone being brand new and local was in high supply and cheap, so that was a go-to.

If I didn't work out all the damn time in college, I would have been a mess. Beer, Taco Bell, a fraternity brother who worked the night shift at the 39c Hamburger Stand, the restaurants with fries and ranch dressing . . . good gawd.

There was a local pasta place that did AYCE spaghetti night on Tues nights for $3.99. It was epic. Hour wait to get in starting at 4pm and went all night.

Given covid price hikes, I'd say it's a fine enough deal and as long as it goes bang it will work. For that price I doubt you will get a complete rifle for much less.

Imagine referencing something someone else's child said when they were 4, 5 years ago, as an insult. appreciate it guys. i keep going back and forth between putting together my own or buying a completed rifle. checking stock wherever i can all day everyday. too much stimulation...lol

anytime i see something in stock i almost feel like i have to buy it but i have been resisting so far

11.5" really is the best short, though if it's put together by somebody good (like, Daniel Defense, Geissele, etc) a 10.3/10.5 is okay

Given he said home defense I doubt an inch or 2 is going to matter, with distance not going past maybe 50 feet. I'd go for a little shorter for slightly better mobility through a door. Just my take though.

i know California is even more commie than Illinois but we have preemption that classifies AR pistols as handguns here. Anything similar in CA?

the law is very tricky here regarding AR pistols/ARs. my county is one of the worst in the Nation.

To have a legal AR pistol here it must have a fixed magazine, or be single shot.

CA said a 'pistol' must have a magazine located in the grip of the gun.

That's as much about reliability due to dwell 'time' as it is terminal performance, though. Carbine gas and 11.5" is the Goldilocks

Haven't put too many rounds through my 7.5", maybe 1000 total but no issues with it. But a good point, better to be sure on cycling than chance it in a defense situation.

My 7.5" pistol with my muzzle brake on it is too much of a damn flamethrower and way too rowdy to use for indoor self defense. So much unburned powder escaping the barrel. Almost useless without my can on it:

I personally don’t have a use for a 9mm sub gun as a 11.5” AR fills the same role and is better at that role. Just my opinion.

Hit or miss depending were you go. Gun dealer and Cabelas is usually oos. Wal Mart has little stock usually.
