Toyota. Have amazing memories and experiences with their 4x4 trucks/SUV's. Retain value, bullet proof. I'd love me a 200 series Land Cruiser or an 04 LX 470. Any 4x4 V8 Toyota is HNNNG.

Porsche. This is mainly in particular to their sports cars (true Porsche). Retain value exceptionally well and can take any abuse you throw at them right out of the box. Track ready, abuse ready fully warrantied out of the box. Top notch quality and engineering. They also have a fantastic dealership experience and the best service department in the industry bar none.

Both brands I'd have no problem purchasing brand new and out of warranty, even if it means depreciation right off the bat. I know what I'm getting. At the same time I wouldn't even be nervous buying a 200k mile toyota truck/suv that's simply maintained. 100k mile healthy 911's are a real thing too.

Have owned several other brands but those two are the only worth mentioning pertaining to this topic.

unabashed Dodge homer. started with an old 2000 dodge durango that i loved dearly many years back, i bought it used with a bunch of miles on it. from there sold it so i could get the Ram and then a couple years ago the SRT Challenger once i got my money right and paid off the truck.

Dodge plays to the old american muscle car look and feel that i grew up idolizing due to my father and his stories of the late 60s/early 70s. particularly the '70 road runner. big loud strong vehicles that are going to lose road courses but monsters on the straight. the challenger is the only real muscle car that speaks to that era. i did not want a smaller car even if it'd be "faster"

simple answer they make what i want. and for what it's worth i've had the truck since 2011 with no real issues, just maintenance costs. i don't want to stick my head in the sand about their reliability reputation but just from my experience it's been good.

Im on my second consecutive Mazda 6 and I'll likely get another whenever I get rid of this one.

My first was a 2004 V6 that I bought in 2007 with 52K miles on it. I sold it in 2014 with 174K miles in perfect running condition, everything working, and needed nothing more than routine maintenance the whole time I owned it.

My current Mazda is a 2010 that I bought in 2014 with 11K on it, currently at 141K with the same routine maintenance. Plugs, timing chain, fluid flushes, tires, etc. Nothing unusual and no surprises of any kind. I change the oil religiously every 5K, clay bar/polish/wax every 3 months, and the car looks and drives like new.

Mazdas just feel right to me. That's not to say other vehicles aren't nice, my wife's Odyssey is pretty nice to drive but Mazda is more my jam.

None, tbh. Brand loyalty would make car shopping significantly easier, but I've never been into a single brand enough to not just choose the vehicle that fits my wants/needs the best. I have buddies who swear by a particular make, and from the outside it seems like a nice mindset to have, and their vehicular upgrade path is so simple. The maker comes out with a new model, that's what you get, instead of having to narrow down the entire market.

Chevy. Only for the Camaro name but I might switch to a C8. I wouldn't say they have treated me anything special but the cars have been solid for me, fun to drive and I like the looks.

I've owned 3 Nissan xterras. I love them, always will. But recently I got rid of mine and made a switch. It just gets annoying only having like 2 aftermarket vendors making parts. I miss mine alot tho tbh.

Strange tho cause I still think Nissan is crap. I just love the xterra/Frontier platform

Ford trucks have been very reliable for me. I’m kicking around trying a Dodge Ram next. Seem to get more for the same price or , recently, less money

    Monica!

I too fanboy the ferd family. Not super hyped on their service department which isn't particularly great, but I think its mainly the dealer in my town because I've had fantastic experiences at my hometown dealer and the dealer 45 minutes away.

Used to be a hardcore Ford guy. Other than the Mustang or F150 there hasn't been too much to get excited about since they neutered all their SUVs (and now that they've gone all crossover).

Wife drives a Mazda 3 and next new car will likely be a CX5. I recently drove a Golf rental and for a car that's supposed to be the gold standard for affordable compacts, the 3 shts all over it.

However if I found a 2008-2012 Escape in 6 cyl and mint I'd probably spring for it.

I’m GMC guy at heart , but my daily driver is a 2016 Ford F-150 ,but that’s all I could afford .
My favourite GM trucks were the square body style .
Back in the day GM trucks we’re extremely easy to source parts for ,and everything was easily interchangeable.
I could go from a small block to a big block with ease if I wanted to . Transmission bellhousings would accept anything from their inline 6 to small block or big block .
Try doing that with Ford , it’s nearly impossible as they intentionally changed things every couple of years so nothing fits .

I ran out of room in my wood shop and sold my 84 , and will always regret it . You couldn’t go a block without someone giving you a high five or a thumbs up

Ford and Toyota but only because they're the only brands I've owned.

Ford ranger that I sold at 350k miles still running good, needed a few things but nothing major.

Then I bought an 04 corolla that I sold at 204k miles still ran as good as when I bought it at 140k.

Now have a 2020 corolla. Have put 8k miles on it so far. I'd like to get a truck at some point but I don't really have a use for it since I don't live or own a house and my job doesn't require it. In the future when I get out of the navy I want to buy some land though and I'll probably buy a truck then.

My mom used to have a chevy cavalier and also a cadillac car, forget the model but both were absolute junk. Cadillac was giving out at 100k miles. And then I know someone who had a very well maintained early 2000s dodge truck and the transmission was acting up around 90-100k miles. Not a large sample size but judging from those I probably wouldn't buy any of those brands.

I agree with that. I wouldn't ever buy any other nissan but some of the Xterras look nice. I really only like the look of the 1st gen though.

I've used as DDs 3 Fords, a Scion (Toyota), a Dodge, and 2 Hondas. The Hondas blew me away the most, both the 17 Civic EX-T I had and the 17 Si I have now. I also have two bikes - one is a 1986 Yamaha FZX700 and the other is a 1980 Honda CM400. The craftsmanship on the Honda bike is incredible. I've been impressed all-around by their stuff, so I'll probably look at what they have on the horizon before I make another purchase. I love my Si though so I'll probably run that into the ground before shopping around.

I'm a Chevy guy. I work on another brand for a living, but still love my Chevy's as long as they are trucks. Nothing against Ford or Dodge (esp Cummin's Rams) just my personal choice.

porsche. it is the most expensive and prestigious luxury vehicle brand that you can buy from that has enough models on the road where serviceability and parts availability is still decent
