Watching the Bitcoin surge today (7%).
I just happened to drop $2,500 in the other day at around $19,500 for some short term action. I never get this lucky! It's only a couple hundred dollars, but hey, I'll take it.

I’m currently under contract for a lake property, cash purchase no Mtg and actually found a solid bargain. Needs a roof soon (good shape but can see fiberglass mat on edge of shingles, the deck needs new decking and railing, shed is a bit rotten in spots and it’s going to get some updates inside (paint, tile, etc). Basically had been lightly used, well maintained, and never changed from the early 90s. Not market trading but probably going to have around 30k equity after I close (been actively looking for a year). That should cause the real estate collapse so short there lol. I bought my primary residence at market peak around 06befire the collapse lol. Also getting ready to move a little more of my remaining cash to ibonds. Still down 6 figures in my stock market investments and still dumping money in on schedule.

The market is at the top and due for a pullback, this property was significantly undervalued though and I had a contract locked-in within 2 days of it going on the market. Now its just a matter of my lawyer making sure it goes through. A significantly higher backup offer has been received so basically I have to be very careful to not give them any legal reason to kick me out and move on to higher offers. My attorney is a bulldog though and will sue for nonperformance if necessary.

The S&P buy was done with $205K and it's now $225K
On July 11 I bought nearly equal shares ($ not # of shares) of Goog, Amzn, Nflx, Aapl, and Msft. That was $10K each and it's now $56K total with Nflx up 28%, Amzn up 21%, Aapl up 12%, Msft up 6%, and Good down 2%
All these gains could be wiped out in a couple of weeks (if not days ) but it feels good to see my net worth go up for a while after literally watching zero movement since the first of the year due to my cash position.
Edit: A shout-out to Cantplankwell who made me realize that cash is a viable option. Sure, you lose some buying power due to inflation, but when both bonds and stocks are losing value, cash will occasionally be the "lesser" of three evils ;-)Pull-Up PR: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177233951

I made a mistake in my exit strategy, and although I was up a considerable sum at one point, when I finally sold it was basically a break even proposition
With that noted, what are your thoughts on bond funds? The iShares 20+ year treasury bond ETF was $155 11 months ago and it now sells at $97 I think the fed will raise rates 75 basis points today, but surely we're coming to the end of this. Many here know me and might remember my goals, but I'm 55 and have capital preservation high on my list. I no longer dream of those 15-20% years, but 6% on average every year will certainly get me to my goals.Pull-Up PR: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177233951

What happened guys: no one trading or just too disinterested to post? I've been a little more active with no one to share ideas with (boo hoo) I just bought CPRI (Michael Kors fashion) on Monday @ $44.60 (it's $45.10 right now), and I bought SCHW (Charles Schwab) on Monday too @ $49.95, and it's trading @ $55.67 just 2½ days later

Hi Payton, hope you are well!!
Good luck on your positions! How did you select those?
Just not many long term members commenting in general these days, not surprised to see this dormant as well.
I have continued to stay away from securities for the time being. I could be in a position to retire within the next year or two, and I dont want to make a mistake, the majority of my money is in cash and a commercial property. I only have one stock now MCD, and a couple of ETFs. I am getting 3% for high interest savings for much of it....I know...not keeping up with inflation, and I am going to ladder some GICs (CDs) Looking for some professional guidance soon to structure my portfolio for the long haul I think as well, but from what I am seeing no more than 40% of my money should be in stocks and will probably be ETFs or Index funds, have to be careful where/when I deploy the cash right now. So envious of some of our friends and neighbors who have those golden handshake defined benefit pension plans.
have you thought when an how you might hang it up so you could spend more time in the gym ? Always find other peoples approaches and philosophies on retirement interesting. After all thats what we are trying to do, invest/save so we can spend more time on our passions. Please record my time/reps if I pass out

Both had several insiders buying their stock and I then checked that with analyst recommendations and found each to be a strong buy. I would like to be a buy and hold person, but I've made a large percentage of money (10-12%) on several stocks lately over a very short period of time and I've sold each and every time which, of course, locks in a profit. To date, the majority of those stocks headed back down. One, Google, allowed me to buy it twice and I made money both times. I bought BABA for $88 like the day or so before the supposed splitting up the company and I sold for $98 that same day. I didn't employ that strategy for my SCHW stock that's now selling for $51.40 or just 2.5% over my $49.95 purchase price
I want to thank you again for recommending cash a year or two ago. That preserved quite a bit of capital for me last year. I will say that I made a significant investment in bonds about 3-4 weeks ago because I think it's about time for interest rates to recede.Pull-Up PR: https://forum.bodybuilding.com/showthread.php?t=177233951
