Doing drug screens at an industrial plant. They sent all their non-essential people home, but the drug screens need to be done to contractors working at the plant.

Yeah Apparently - this was from our group work chat yesterday

"Yeah they Dashed Saturday for 4 hours and made $137. There was a $7.50 bonus on each delivery & we only did 8 deliveries

3 of them were 2 pickups & delivery. Sunday was $225 it was really busy.

Friday night Johnah made $43 for 3 deliveries"

Idk how those things work - but that's from what she told me in our company group chat while we were all talking about non work things. According to her they're not doing too bad when people are busy and using the service.

And to think there's morons out there who think Uber Eats and other food delivery tech companies are "literally losing money on every delivery". Riiight...

The companies aren't losing the money. It is the drivers in a lot of cases that are losing money or end up working for a couple dollars an hour.

Once you calculate in gas, tires, depreciation, wear and tear it (WAS) 57.5 cents per mile on average.

You could win by getting an older reliable car with good mileage, but it was tight. With gas lower lets call it 45 cents per mile.

Missy said her people made $137 for 8 deliveries and 4 hours.

So before you calculate you end up with 22.5-56.25 in car costs.

If you are doing it solo that equates to $20.19-28.63 per hour. If you are working in doubles: $10.09-14.32

Then we also calculate in taxes not being collected.

I see people in 15 mpg vehicles doing uber or food delivery and my angus clinches a bit on their behalf.

^How do you figure Uber is making money when they post quarterly losses every fuking quarter? LMFAO. They lose money. They've never posted a profit. It is a fuking fact.

So fun fact. If you divide up the 3 billion they lost last quarter by the number of rides they gave that is how much they lose per ride. So let's say their drivers gave 400 million rides/deliveries (I have 0 clue how many they actually gave if they even release that info) that would mean they lost $7.5 dollars per ride.

Obviously as a multinational conglomerate they took a 2.1 billion write down on investments on their foreign branches of the company so you can figure they might have only lost $2.25 on each ride that quarter

Not sure how financially savvy you are, but those numbers shouldn't be taken in a vacuum. They are using their cash to expand and it is throwing off their "revenue per ride" numbers.

I'd say moderately capable at best lmao. But it doesn't matter because, like you said, we aren't in a vacuum. By them utilizing their cash to expand is literally the definition of THEY ARE WILLING TO LOSE MONEY FROM THEIR PRIMARY SOURCE OF REVENUE in order to gain market share and squeeze out competition who can't expend money like they can. I do fully understand what they are doing as it is the same as a lot of other companies that have used similar rounds of capital raising through equity and manage to keep investors on the hook via growth projections. By doing so they can raise enough money to steal the market from the legacy taxi business via low ride prices and then once competition is minimized they can raise their rates. That said you look and their expenses as a ride-sharing company and their basic source of revenue IE setting up a driver and a person needing a ride and you can very easily see the connection between their primary business and the loss of money quarter after quarter. They lose money in the early years of their company. But once their market share hits critical mass they simply start boosting ride cost and suddenly they start cranking out big profits.

I sort of did the same thing with my short term rental houses. I rent them to refinery contractors with a per diem. There is a cheap local motel that charged $400 a week for a room with 2 beds most of the refinery contractors stayed there. I charged $350 a week for a house with 2 bedrooms, a full kitchen, washer/dryer, cable/wifi, and it was decorated like Hugh Hefner's mansion. Within 2 years I always had more vehicles at my houses than the motel had vehicles in its lot. Within 4 years the owner of the motel sold it to some sucker. The sucker complained that people only stayed at his motel one week and then moved out into one of my places.

Now I'm charging and getting $600 a week for those houses that would bring in $350. Other houses that would bring in $800 or $1000 would bring in $1250 or $1500. But that has kinda gone to hell with this crisis. 6 weeks ago I had 73 tenants. Last week I had 2, and they are both unemployed.
