Minimum height rack to do OHP in the cage

    Hi

I’m looking at getting a Rouge Monster Lite rack (which are 90” high).

My palm height is a fraction under 80”

Which makes me think I’d be able to safely do OHPs within a 90” rack.

But it feels tight. Subtract 3-5” from that 90” for the cross members and there’s not much leeway.

    Plus, I ain’t that tall.

So, I’m wondering why racks aren’t coming a bit taller as standard. Is it unusual to do OHPs within a cage? Certainly I don’t see it in many training videos.

The residential racks are made to fit in residential size spaces. I do seated press, cause I’d need about 10’ ceilings to do standing OHP.

I’ve only got just enough depth to fit the cage in unfortunately. There’s a ceiling restriction that means I couldn’t do them outside the cage.

I’m better off for height than I am depth.

Was really just posting to understand why I rarely see people doing OHPs within a cage and why the standard height is 90” when that rules it out as an option for so many people. (Probably just about ok for me)

Budget dependant, Iron King Equipment will modify any of their racks for both depth and height

I got their SR-70 standard depth is 85cm, but you can get this shorter

Damn, I've been around the UK gym equipment scene for over 20 years and never came across Iron King.

It's good to know of a smaller manufacturer that's prepared to do custom work.

Search for Multi or Open Top rack.

The Legend Power Station linked by Eric is available in the UK, from Absolute Performance. As with most Legend products there's a waiting time, in the UK about 12-16 weeks.

I've be kinda obessive about getting a home gym sorted the last few months and luckily have a few friends across the country with good knowledge of manufactures large and small.
Was very happy to find a custom rack with westside spacing that was reasonably priced.

there is no reason to do them in the cage.

The gym I go to has cages tall enough for me to press inside and I still do them outside the rack.

Just behind the space where my rack will go is an on overhead restriction that means I need to do them inside the cage unfortunately
