Don't have a playstation so Persona is kind of out of the question so looking one for PC, or maybe something I can play on an emulator
so far I've been considering
- Legend of Heroes (there's a lot of games in the series so which one should I start with?)
- Dragon Quest XI
- Chrono Trigger
- Star Ocean (which game should I start with)

Legend of Heroes was amazing, I loved Trails in the Sky and Trails in the Sky SC; you can skip the 3rd, it's mostly unneeded epilogue.
Have not played Cold Steel yet, but Trails was phenomenal and it's on sale now.Short cuts to success are often paved with lies.
1/13/16: Massive hernia.
5/10/16: Finally back to lifting, light but improving.

Yakuza ports on PC are amazing. If you like a deep story, fast paced martial arts combat, and a ton of side content then look no further than these games.

Chrono Trigger and Cross then Legends of Heroes. Start with the Sky trilogy, then Zero and Ao, then Cold Steel.
The 3rd has a lot of info you need for the 2 Crossbell games and Cold Steel if you got all the star/sun/moon doors. CS 1 and 2 weren’t as good as Sky but 3 was awesome. 4 is coming out in the fall this year. The two Crossbell games have fan English translations on pc and those are the two best games in the series imo.Mets Packers Knicks UCONN

tales series
the only two JRPG series I can vouch for 100% of the time and always buy full price is the tales of series and persona series
symphonia, berseria, zestiria, and vesperia are on sale on steam right now. they're always at steal prices on sale. and definitely worth your money and time. i would recommend starting with symphonia (cause it's the most aged out of these, but it's good) and then berseria, then you can try the others, vesperia feels kind of aged. and zestiria is easily the worst tales game.
i don't like the legend of heroes stuff that stuff is so cheap rpgmaker quality. i could make those games lolLast edited by 2RDEYE; 05-01-2020 at 01:55 PM.

Dragon Quest XI. I thought square had completely lost their quality seeing as how final fantasy has gone to chit but DQXI was pretty much as good as games get these days srs. I ended up getting the platinum cuz I enjoyed it so much.

It was great. Was pleasantly surprised with how much content there was left, specifically story content. I thought it would be grindy and although there is some of that there was a lot of story content too. Pretty much all the main areas you go to have boss battles/quests or at least like a cutscene or 2. The combat is ideal for JRPGs so it felt phuking fantastic maxing out my characters and fighting bosses. I played on draconian mode with super hard enemies so it was very satisfying. I'd say you're missing out if you don't play Act 3, lots of character/story development and closure.

Skip legend of heroes. It's babies first rpg and not that good if you grew up in the ps1 era, heaps of pointless backtracking and terrible pacing.
DQ11 is pretty good and has extensive difficulty mods.
Chrono trigger is really good if you don't mind retro gaming. If you don't mind, then go and look at the PS1 back catalogue. Legend of legaia, legend of dragoon, grandia, suikoden 1,2.
On the os2 is suikoden 5 = MC looks like a phaggot but game is super good.
FF12 TZA re-release is probably the best rpg this decade.
Bad news is most modern rpg's suck dick. Problems with ps4 rpgs:
- Team harem
- cutesy/pervey anime tropes/mega weeby **** in general
- recipe systems
- non linear gearing... I want to find better ****, not upgrade old stuff.
- elemental absorption/defence all but forgotten
- shallow sidequests
- no exploration, path is clearly mapped out.
- no strategy around accessories.
Tales of beresia has a few of the above issues but it's OK.
Some slept on 360 titles as well in infinite undiscovery and lost oddysey.Last edited by Pumpinmirin; 06-28-2020 at 02:19 PM.

I beat the Trails in the Sky series, thought the series overall was pretty awesome. SC i thought was definitely the best out of that series. I hesitate to compare the first chapter and the final chapter because the final chapter was unique and great in its own way. I enjoyed the little side stories and what not and having Kevin as the main protagonist.
Played Cold Steel I and II. At the beginning I wasn't really feeling Cold Steel I and the main characters but as I played through it they kinda grew on me I guess. Cold Steel II I thought was better. Overall I like Trails in the Sky series better just judging off of the first two entries of trails of cold steel. I have yet to play III and IV apparently comes out this spring so I'm waiting for that. I feel like the quartz system is better in some ways and worse in others.
Currently playing Zero no Kiseki. Not sure how I really feel about it as of yet but I think I'm still early into it. I feel it pretty difficult compared to CS and Sky but the difficulty is just perfect IMO. Technically it's an older game than the remade Trails in the Sky so I guess there's that. Not sure if I should wait for the geofront translation for Ao no Kiseki or just go ahead and play the other translations that are out there. Apparently the Zero/Ao are the two best but not seeing it yet IMO, but I'm about 20 hours into Zero. May play Persona 4 in the mean time until the next geofront translation comes tho we'll see.
Can't wait for Cold Steel IV to come out and I think playing Zero/Ao/CS III and maybe some Persona 4 in the mean time should hopefully keep me busy.positivity brah crew

Glad you’re enjoying the series so far. SC was my favorite of the Sky trilogy after my first play through as well.
I played CS 1 and 2 before Sky but I didn’t like them as much on my second play through so I can see where you’re coming from. I think making class 7 14 characters deep was a big mistake. Rean isn’t a great protagonist on his own and the large class makes it difficult to develop all of them adequately. 3 and 4 make new class 7 much smaller and I enjoyed them a lot more than 1 and 2. The beginning of 3 is really slow though just a Warning. I struggled through the first chapter but everything after that was great.
The beginning of Zero is really slow. When you start hearing about an “Auction” it starts to pick up. The end game of Zero is my favorite in the entire series. It does get better. I haven’t played the geofront translations (which are supposed to be close to official translations) I played the Flame edit versions for both, which is basically a Google translate version. I thought that version was fine if you don’t want to wait for the geofront version of Ao. Ao is my favorite jrpg of all time and I played a chitty translation lol. It’s that good. First chapter is slow but the rest of the game is incredible.
If you got any more questions on the series you can pm me or post them hereMets Packers Knicks UCONN

Yeah I hear ya, but I think with making it that deep it adds some replay value I guess lol IDK. I developed different characters from I and II. Was tempted to use Laura in part II as well as the first because she's so OP lol but forced myself not to lol. I don't think I really cared for some of the characters either. Rean isn't the best protagonist but I think he was better in II than I. Some parts to the story, especially in II kinda seemed odd to me in a way where I was like wtf why? But I guess the ending made up for it somewhat. Some spots kinda seemed odd where it had no voice acting but given how story heavy the game is it probably would have taken forever to voice act all of the most important parts and were probably on a budget.
And yeah, I don't think I've heard about an auction yet in Zero lol so I guess I can look forward to the rest of the game.positivity brah crew
