I see what ya mean about JJ signing...but I feel it'd be a waste of $$ right now...unless they dumped a few people.
I'm comfortable rolling with DLaw, Aldon Smith, Randy
That said I don't think JJ would sign here anyway...looking like Bills/Browns are the top contenders<HTC>

the first 3 years avg 42 mil per year
42x3= 126 million over the first 3 years
126 - 22 mil for this year
104 /2 remaining years = 52 million per year
Maybe it won’t count against the cap exactly that way, but I was doing the avg if we backed out the first year against the capDallas Cowboys

How does the 66 mil signing bonus not go against the cap?

It does. It's just that it's over the length of his contract, so he gets a $13.2M bonus at the start of every league year.

Yeah, they've been doing it since I've been really paying attention to that sort of thing. I think Jerry's thinking is the cap always goes up and he's generally had success kicking the can down the road with Witten et al. It seemed like every year from 09-15 they were always right up against the cap but still found ways to make moves.

It's actually really front loaded, I hate back loaded deals on guys that can't stay healthy or old.
Like when they were kicking the 88/94 contract cans down the road. Not a 27 year old player who's missed two games since 2013 before the ankle.
From what understand the biggest hit of this deal is 2023 when the TV money hits EDIT: biggest hit is in 24 @47Last edited by headinahole; 03-09-2021 at 07:33 AM.
