Hey everybody. My girlfriend is currently struggling to lose weight. In her past, she lost about 30 pounds just by fasting basically and I was wondering if that had done any damage to her body and slowed her metabolism? Because every time she eats she tends to gain back weight easily. Her routine consists of 1 hour of steady cardio everyday(on off days) and 3 - 4 times weight lifting. This was all before quarantine. She is currently eating about 1200 calories a day now and doing cardio about 3 times a week plus her job requires her to walk a lot. She's 5'0 ft tall and 140 lbs. Any advice would be appreciated!

Fasting may be quick but as she discovered, it is a poor way of making changes that stick.
The reason for this is that you lose muscle mass when you fast (as well as fat) and this results in a reduced metabolism as well as dissapointing results in terms of shape.
Better to play the long game, do a sustained controlled calorie deficit and aim for no more than 1% bodyweight loss per week. Do this while eating enough protein and doing weight training to support muscle mass.
