Anyone else find it odd that there still has been zero PSA's about obesity during this? Literally the #1 factor for severe cases, but instead they're telling us to not go to the beach....

Much easier to just tell everyone to stay home, shut things down, and continue throwing our economy into the ****ter.

The real question is, for those with "mild" pneumonia is long term damage possible? The answer? We don't know yet.

For anyone who compares this to the flu, it's not all alike. For example, even those who are asymptotic a majority show abnormalities in their lungs. Now, this will all likely heal but it is a concerning statistic, that shows just how damaging this virus can be. Personally, my lung CT was bad, but a month later follow up xrays were normal. I can say however, normal xray doesn't mean normal lung function. It will be at least another three months before we can get a better idea of the long term consequences. One issue I do have with the current recovery info given out by the CDC and other health organizations, is that I think the window given is much too small - 2 weeks for mild cases. Medical literature says that pneumonia takes up to six months to recover from. I think the short time frame given gives covid patients false expectations and which leads to anxiety when there symptoms seem to linger.
Good reply. Of course we don't know how it will be long term because there aren't any long term survivors yet.

Actually publicizing the bold part (could take 6 months to recover) would likely do more to get younger people to care about avoiding getting this virus. There would be push back about "moving the bar", but there are just too many first person accounts of people who have had this and continue to feel like trash for several months.

Definitely has been downplayed and it is PC BS. Lost count of how many "healthy" young people I've seen pics of who died from this and were visibly obese.

I think the top 3 most common underlying conditions of mortality are heart disease, high blood pressure and diabetes.

I wonder what those 3 comorbidities have in common???

locking people down combines limiting movement/increasing risk of the 3 above with lowering vitamin D which is important for immune system functioning. I know lockdowns "limited" the spread of corona but would it also not of increased the fatality rate of those who do contract it.

Anthony Fauci lied about masks; now he complains that people 'distrust authority'
    https://www.washingtonexaminer.com/o...rust-authority

Dr. Anthony Fauci lied when he downplayed and even discouraged the use of masks in protecting against the coronavirus. Now, the director of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases has the gall to complain about the glut of “anti-science” people who “don't believe authority.”

There are certainly anti-science cliques in the United States. But the distrust of authority, especially in regard to this viral pandemic, is well earned. Fauci has personally done more harm to the cause of combating the coronavirus than he likely will ever understand.

"One of the problems we face in the United States is that, unfortunately, there is a combination of an anti-science bias that people are — for reasons that sometimes are, you know, inconceivable and not understandable — they just don't believe science, and they don't believe authority," Fauci said this week in an episode of the Department of Health and Human Services's podcast Learning Curve.

He added, "So, when they see someone up in the White House, which has an air of authority to it, who's talking about science, that there are some people who just don't believe that — and that's unfortunate because, you know, science is truth. ... If you go by the evidence and by the data, you’re speaking the truth.”

Again, it cannot be stressed enough that Fauci knowingly lied about masks and recently admitted it. And even if he were not speaking specifically of the coronavirus, he is the last healthcare expert who should be complaining about a widespread lack of trust in authority.

"[W]e were concerned the public health community, and many people were saying this, were concerned that it was at a time when personal protective equipment, including the N95 masks and the surgical masks, were in very short supply," he told the Wall Street Journal of his supposedly noble lie.

Fauci added, "And we wanted to make sure that the people, namely, the healthcare workers, who were brave enough to put themselves in a harm way, to take care of people who you know were infected with the coronavirus and the danger of them getting infected."

We will never know how many extra people died because they could not just tell people to wear bandanas and let the medical personnel have the surgical masks.

"It's amazing sometimes the denial there is," Fauci said. "It's the same thing that gets people who are anti-vaxxers, who don't want people to get vaccinated, even though the data clearly indicate the safety of vaccines," he said on the podcast. "That's really a problem."

As it turns out, if you lie to people from a position of authority, they will stop trusting people in positions of authority. Crazy how these things work, is it not?

Some time ago NY did a study that showed age was #1 factor for hospital admission, but obesity was the second factor, and also the #1 chronic factor.

But yeah, the media is completely silent on this

I initially thought it was the standard obese category associated with BMI

Then I read the report out of NY, they were talking a BMI of 40 and above if I remember correctly

Who knows. Many thought it would "calm down" by summer and look how that turned out. I would guess 12-18 months assuming a vaccine or highly effective treatment can be found.

    lolwut?

How did Fauci lie about masks? First the issue was preserving them for health care workers. Did you miss the thousands of stories about mask shortages??? They fukking work, that's why they needed to preserve them for health care workers. Countries got desperate enough that they had to take a chance on dodgy suppliers who ended up sending fake or ineffective masks.

What he should have done was straight out tell people to cover their fukking face from the beginning. I agree the situation was handled poorly. None of this was helped by the president and his attitude, nor the freedom fighting potatoes who are making their last stand to keep their liberty to be mask free.

Not clicking your BS links either. I'm working in a warehouse with a mask 10-13 hours a day. They are uncomfortable. Big fukking whoop. I admit I didn't like it, but I'm not the special Karen that's going to make a stink about muh comforts and freeedumbz.

Lol now I'm convinced Georgia needs to stop bullshtting. Those numbers have to be on par with Florida.
Floridians are taking great precations than Georgia citizens. In the past month I have been to

    Far north GA (mountains )
    Atlanta metro
    Macon (central ga)
    Valdosta (south ga)

    Then Florida
    Gainesville (north)
    Orlando (central)
    Miami (south)

People in Florida are taking a ton more precations. Maybe it's because they are all over the news but still. Before I left GA I remember going into home depot and the sht was like 50% mask wearers. Central and south ga even less

I'm not saying Florida numbers are fake but GA certainly is

what are the hospitalization and deaths? Cant fake that. If they are are still at a reasonable level than accept things for being not that bad.

When I was in Florida, they were taking a lot precautions. In New Orleans, it was wide open. No mask or any limits, but apparently Florida is worse off. How and why this disease spreads is not so obvious.

Yeah not obvious at all. I'm trying to get a gauge on manipulated numbers

One could argue that hospitalizations are a function of severity which brings a multitude of factors into play. But straight up infections is less complicated. Meaning that exposure to the virus likely results in getting it no matter who you are or what what walk of life you're from. Hence my belief that GA is full of sht and yes if things are truly bad then it will play out.

In fact I'm predicting that GA will ultimately be worse than Florida. Any way you want to slice it

who knows. Follow hospitalizations and deaths. That is the most reliable barometer we have. If more people are getting it with less severity, that is a good thing. We are not going to have a vaccine for this chit any time soon, so the more people that get it without complications the better.

And things just got worse. Growing evidence that Covid is now airborne, meaning it can remain suspended in an aerosol state for far longer than previously thought. This basically means socially distancing is not enough to prevent the spread as you could walk through an suspension of the virus that was left there several minutes before by someone that sneezed, coughed or breathed there.

Ordinary masks or a scarf will not prevent the spread you will need an N95 mask as this will only allow particles smaller than 0.3 microns and the aerosol state of covid is believed to be 0.3 to 1 micron in size.

COVID-19 is close to losing its epidemic status in the U.S., according to the CDC

Weird how none of the MSM are reporting this.

Coronavirus deaths in the country have nearly reached a level where the virus will cease to qualify as an epidemic under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention rules, the federal agency reported on Friday.

The CDC qualifies a disease outbreak as an "epidemic" if the number of deaths attributable to the disease exceeds a certain percentage of total deaths per week. That threshold for pneumonia, influenza and COVID-19 fluctuates slightly depending on the time of year, ranging from around 7% at the height of flu season to around 5% during less virulent months.

CDC data indicate that deaths from those ailments began skyrocketing in the country around the second week of March, hitting a peak around early May and then plummeting quickly after that.

The latest data show that the percentage of deaths in the country attributable to those factors had as of the last week in June reached its lowest point since the end of last year, becoming "equal to the [current] epidemic threshold of 5.9%," the CDC said.
