    it IS his masterpiece

all of his directing experience put into his most complete and detailed film to date

Quentin Tarantino is the only film Genius to come out since 1992. Everything he makes is art.

And there's a significant difference between a great hit movie and art.

Anyone else irritated that Brad Pitt didn't bang Pussycat tho? That chick is really my type. Margot Robbie is too but there was just something about that Pussycat.
Denis Villeneuve would like a word tho

Prisoners might just be the most perfect movie ever made (srs), even better than once upon a time in Hollywood heck in the West too

^for Nolan only Dunkirk and Interstellar are maybe worth a mention, but they were more catered to a big theatre experience

Prisoners was a great movie from the writing, acting story.

    Dunkirk was quite good.

But I think most of you are too young to truly appreciate QT.

He's my age and he always puts touches on his movies that go back to the people our age's childhood. From the rerun TV shows and movies we watched to all the little details.

Like the two times Uma drew out a square in the air while she was telling someone they were a square.

People actually did that in the 70s and 60s. The dashed line that followed her finger was something they really used to do.

The other guys you mentioned do make blockbusters.

    But it's not art.

Nolan and that other guy are a Corvette Zr1
    It's cool it's fast it's fun.

    Tarantino is a Ferrari

A work of craftsmanship. A work of art.

You have to have a refined palate to truly appreciate him.

Big QT fan - seen all the films. Pulp Fiction > Reservoir Dogs > Everything else IMO.

Once Upon a Time...was good, but not great IMO. The best parts about it, as you said, were the attention to detail and some great performances - but as a film it didn't impact me the way some of his better ones have.

Inglorious Basterds is probably #3 on my QT list.

Just not big on period pieces that he's moved towards.

His 90s stuff was fire tho: Jackie Brown, Pulp Fiction, Reservoir Dogs.

I'm not all about modern blockbusters btw.

My favourite all-time directors are Hitchcock and Kubrick = the true masters of film.

I always come out a bit disappointed in his movies, not because they're not good, but because they can never top Pulp Fiction. But eventually once I get the patience for it, I'll give this one a watch.

I saw it at the cinema and thought it was a great film.

Wondered if QT had lost his touch after all this time but, for me, no chance.

Did you catch at all that this wasn't accurate storytelling before the end? I find that so many see this as a twist film surprising as I felt it gave it away that it wasn't accurate story telling so many times. The title alone. But the Bruce Lee scene is a total giveaway.

Also, because of where we are. Do you really think Cliff Booth in the late 60's being a washed up stunt man who may have murdered his wife would really pass up a BJ from that girl based on her age?

Did you catch at all that this wasn't accurate storytelling before the end? I find that so many see this as a twist film surprising as I felt it gave it away that it wasn't accurate story telling so many times. The title alone. But the Bruce Lee scene is a total giveaway.

Also, because of where we are. Do you really think Cliff Booth in the late 60's being a washed up stunt man who may have murdered his wife would really pass up a BJ from that girl based on her age?

I enjoyed it but I felt it was long winded and heavily dialogue driven. I think The Hateful Eight was better in terms of having a dialogue dense movie with a better story. I know QT was trying to make it a film about the day in the life of two people in Hollywood in the twilight of their career and obviously adding a twist to the story of Manson's cult and Sharon Tate. I guess if I lived around that time it would have impacted me more.

Not saying I didn't enjoy it. I actually saw it twice.

Make your point about Bruce Lee.

I think the movie is pure **** especially considering the great actors in it but to each their own glad at least someone enjoyed it.
I would agree but I stuck it out to the end and was treated to one of the greatest endings I’ve seen

    Hateful Eight was great.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood was in love with itself a bit. Inglorous Bastards is my favorite QT film and I can watch it over and over.

Absolutely love Tarantino. Probably the only celebrity who I would be genuinely interested in meeting srs.

Once upon a time in Hollywood was great, not as good as pulp fiction or reservoir dogs tho - I love his old stuff, the dialogue is always on point.

Did you ever see Tarantino in Four Rooms? It was a very early piece and he basically played himself. He was just brilliant.... Crazy as fuk, rambling, and you couldn't take your eyes away. The guy that every other guy THINKS they are when they're drunk but Tarantino actually IS.

    ....

In terms of other directors, I think Waika Taititi may not be AS good as Tarantino but he's definitely a genius and anything he puts out is well worth watching. JoJo Rabbit, what we do in the shadows, boy, hunt for the wilderpeople, Thor Ragnarok, etc.....

I thought it tapped into the life of Bass Reeves the ex slave Marshal who inspired the Character of The Lone Ranger.

Bass was the most successful lawman in the Wild West.
