I use to do it every year, but am on about a 3 year run with this Windows 7....I don't really see a need for a fresh install.

Probably like once a year. It depends on when my computer gets to the point where I say "there is way too much chit on here."

havent felt the need to reformat/reinstall since i installed win7 and that was back in 2011.
now, back in the win95/win98se days i would reformat/reinstall like every month. i'd always experiment and bork the system, or tweak it to the point where i break it, or just want some piece of mind and reformat/reinstall.
i miss those days, but i dont miss those days.★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ Humid South Crew ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆ ★ ☆

Only worth reformatting if your OS becomes corrupt or if you get a virus and can't figure out how to remove it, otherwise just delete the chit you don't need

Windows decay isn't as bad as it used to be thanks to the better optimization of the registry. However **** like having a 20gb winsxs folder that we're not supposed to delete is bullchit. Thankfully I don't need to reformat anymore though.

Only when it's corrupt. I just clean it up on a regular basis otherwise.
Else, I get a new hard drive for a new OS.

You should format your PC only if your PC gets slow down or hard drive is cluttered with irrelevant stuff or Windows stops responding or to get rid of stubborn viruses, then it is really worth otherwise you can simply delete the unwanted data. But, you should follow the detailed steps to format the PC/ laptop.
