How have they been stored? Were they opened?
If something is a year past and it has been opened the whole time, I usually toss it. But a pre workout that has been unopened on a shelf in my closet or hiding in the back of the pantry (or even better, in the fridge, where I have a lot of stuff), if it smells and tastes okay I'm not wasting it
Pres usually attract moisture pretty easily and clump up. If it's been closed and hasn't clumped up I'd definitely use it

I have been storing all my unopened PWO's in my deep freeze, then after opening I'm putting them in the fridge until they are gone. So far so good, I haven't experienced any of the typical 'clumping' that I used to get by just storing them in the cabinet. Even a couple months later in the fridge they look just as good as the day I first opened them.
