We would spend 1 week every year in Sacramento and 1 week every year in Washington DC trying to get legislators to either, 1. more prescribed burning, or 2. allow some timber harvesting, or 3. allow more grazing or some combination of the 3 options.
Of course, we got a lot of lip service but never any action. Now, the eastern portion of that county in on fire.

Its infuriating when there are simple solutions yet people choose to willfully to ignore them then cry about the consequences.

We have a forestry company as part of our group of companies.

Humans put out natural fires which changes the fuel loads and fire risk profiles and creates a thousand downstream impacts. Forestry management is a science. Its a degree program, and has been a major initiative in North America since the end to WWII.

Wood consumption has increased at the same time global forestation has increased.

Planning your forestry reserve, your planned cycling of harvest blocks, replantings, periodic burning of slash and planned burns of merchantable and non-merchantable areas is not new. Abandoning your responsibilities for forest management is anti-science.

Yeah, pretty sure you would be rather upset and the thought process in this state. The arguments against: 1. air quality (against prescribed burning), 2. endangered species (against timber harvesting), and 3. water quality (against more grazing). We've been making decisions in this state based on feels under the guise of science for a long time.

I admit our motives were more than forest health and had a financial aspect to it along with increased water runoff which, in turn, could be used for irrigation on the valley floor.

Cliffs: they're idiots who don't manage the land properly

I live in one of the largest largest pine forests in the country and it gets very dry at times yet we manage to not burn down. You know why? Because of controlled burns. They burn the entire floor out regularly around here. Sure it might look like chit for a year or so after but it bounces right back. Its a natural process that HAS to happen. "but muh environment and the smoke tho"...ok then, have fun when an even bigger fire breaks out and produces much, much more smoke. Morons.

"Academics believe that between 4.4 million and 11.8 million acres burned each year in prehistoric California. Between 1982 and 1998, California’s agency land managers burned, on average, about 30,000 acres a year. Between 1999 and 2017, that number dropped to an annual 13,000 acres."
California has never done anything right and I love how they blame their poor forest management on climate change.

Get your shi+ together west coast. Its smokey as hell over here and im already battling this life threatening disease. Any lawyers in here? I want to sue california for making my symptoms worse

We have a bunch of ultra-lefties living in apartments stacked over safe injection sites in Vancouver who have decided for the rest of the province that population control in wolf and grizzly populations should stop as well.

Now the other 99% of province (by area) is wondering where all the deer and elk went, and worrying about their kids being snatched up by bears in their little towns.

Malcolm in the Middle is an American television sitcom. The series premiered on January 9, 2000, and ended its six-year run on May 14, 2006, after seven seasons and 151 episodes. The series received critical acclaim and won a Peabody Award, seven Emmy Awards, one Grammy Award and seven Golden Globe nominations.

That and gixxer got the rona, liljays state is on fire, Fawnl is contemplating killing a bat collector, Vex likes big tiddies and 5x10 is opening a fertility clinic.

I feel like Vex and 5x10 should be working together based on this but I havent thought of the angle yet.

I closed a low-to-mid nine figure deal I have been working on for an entire year this week. Its surreal thinking about it, and if I think too deeply on it I keep holding my breath.

    Weird times.

Jesus engj, mid 9 figures is nuts! It’s too bad you couldn’t get even a little cut of that
My sales goal this year was 3.5 million, but they cut it to 2.8 for covid. I’m at 2.9 through October

No commissions on stuff this size. I cant afford to take the downside risk if I miscalculate, so I don't participate in the upside benefits either. I also cant work on something for a year for nothing if we don't get to a deal, which is more than half of these.

I am like Evel Knievel, I get paid for the attempt. No refunds if I crash the bike.

I’m officially homeless on Monday, actually. Been pretty emotional thinking of this family I’m responsible for and having no control. Imagine having a 9 and 11 year old, 2 dogs and a cat and literally nowhere to live. Nowhere to put your stuff... your kids can’t go to school. Never been in a situation this bad before.

5x10, thanks for that story though. I enjoyed it!

    Congrats eng!

She sold a house and bought a house, like people do.

Selling went well, turned out the one they were looking at was bat infested plus other seller stupidity then the deal fell apart. With kids during a pandemic. Move out day now precedes move in day, sucks a big fat one.

I did the camper thing until winter came. Then we lived with my folks for several months.

I've been there. Not easy finding a rental for month to month and with pets. But remember, its only temporary and kids are resilient little farts

We do have a camper but it’s a 1990 and it now leaks badly on 2 spots. Over two beds... we are going to stay with my real estate agent for a bit, I think. As strange as that sounds. Right now we are arranging places to put our stuff (storage) and all our trailers. My neighbours are storing a lot of it for us until we have a solid plan. And figuring out where to live. Found a house I like and we will put in an offer today.

Agree about SM. About a month ago I had to reset my phone because it was doing some random chit. Well, doing so logged me out of everything, which meant I needed to remember my passwords. Well, I finally logged into FB for the first time in a month this week. Not really to see what was going on, but because I found 2 beautiful dogs that I was trying to find their owners.
    Haven't really missed it either.

Right now we are arranging places to put our stuff (storage) and all our trailers. My neighbours are storing a lot of it for us until we have a solid plan. And figuring out where to live. Found a house I like and we will put in an offer today.
    Good Luck Fawn.
You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
