“Gym-face can be caused by excessive cardiovascular exercise, like running, cycling and endurance training which raise the heart rate and can cause dramatic weight loss,” Medical Director Dr. Preema Vig told us. “When you start to exercise your face goes red as blood vessels widen to get oxygen flowing around the body. But after about 15 minutes, when muscles need more oxygen, blood starts to be diverted from the face, which causes fat pads in the cheeks to be deprived of oxygen and to slowly diminish.

Does cardio destroy your face and makes you old?

No, cardio does not destroy your face or make you look old.
You have not developed wrinkles and sunken cheeks due to 6 weeks of cardio, during which you've gained 8 lbs.

Fat burned in response to doing cardio doesn't come off from somewhere different to any other kind of dieting or calorie restricted scenario AFAIK.
If you got heavier and believe you lost fat, it's more likely you just gained some muscle glycogen, which can make you look leaner (up to a point). You don't lose body fat when in a net surplus.

Your past post history explains why you're 'red'. Fasting makes you dizzy. Bulking on keto. Now gaining weight and cardio causes you to lose face fat and get wrinkles. Either a troll or you need some help.

Can you imagine what the military would look like if that was the case. Are logic and common sense really so lacking...this forum gives me headaches sometimes.

I nearly wrote something really mean but the short answer is no. Cardio doesn't make you look old and especially not at 26.
Have you played around with drugs in the past? including the ones that I think you're not allowed to mention on here? Cos I know someone personally who previously held a bunch of national and international titles, who is now 40 but his face looks about 70. Just don't even think about THAT chit.

"article" is a reach. Its an MSN blog post by a "doctor" who then starts advertising products in the second half. There is not a single reference to a study or real medical data. Be aware of anything you read online that seems to have an agenda around selling/promoting anything. Although anecdotal evidence isn't great when N=the entire friggen army/marine/other service branches who do daily cardio without problems...I mean c'mon man.

The question is did YOU read it?

I know that we are living in crazy times but math hasn't changed. An 8 lb increase in weight is still not considered a loss. Besides which, as already mentioned, that's not a scientific article or study.

Alot of outdoor cardio without skin protection can cause poorer skin, and to wash face etc after workout,
Extreme rapid weightloss can cause temporary hair loss which grows back after weight stabilises
Shouldnt cause wrinkling tho

ok forget my weight.
after 4 weeks more of cardio my face looks even worse.
i have a side by side comparison it looks so ugly and i lost so much volume in the face which leads to an unhealthy old look.
even after 4 months of partying i did not look so wasted like now
im stopping cardio now **** it

Im not talking about wrinkles, i dont have wrinkles cause im young.
but i dont have fat anymore too, i weigh 104 kilso on the scale i did not lose any weight, but i lost muscles of course, because i did not train for 7 weeks.
i hope it is reversible
u can google the term gym-face and can find lots of info.
from a scientific standpoint it sounds like crap but on the photos and mirror i have the proof.
why do people say that excessive cardio leads to thin arms and legs ? maybe because the muscles diminsh ? well maybe u can say that also on theface ? maybe i havent lost fat but musclesLast edited by Polaczo; 05-05-2020 at 12:33 AM.

LMAO it sounds like this guy is just complaining about losing fat in his face. There was another poster recently who was also concerned because his face got thinner after losing a bunch of weight.
That's not your face aging - that's it becoming leaner, just like the rest of your body.
If you prefer a fat face with chipmunk cheeks - then go for it. But you can't have a fat face with a six pack. Doesn't work like that.

No worries bro! All good. I see lots of dudes at the gym with “cheekier” faces and despite being ripped. However, they use gear. Not familiar enough to attribute it to that or just overall metabolism and such. I made peace with my leaner face and my wife will have to deal with it haha
