Are You Leaning Towards Being a Paniccel or a "It's Just a Flu Brah"?

I know the best way to handle it is to stay calm, be rational, dont panic, but also dont take it for granted.

But even those of us who balances things tend to lean towards one side. So which side do you lean on? And I am entirely talking about covid19, not towards the ramifications towards the economy, or how fat your girl will become when all is said and done.

Honestly I'm not super worried. The disease seems relatively easy to get over if you have a functioning immune system, and decent health. I'm more worried about the after affects, the measures, laws, and actions taken may affect us for decades...

How am I supposed to not factor in the economy with this question?

Even the flu should be taken seriously. People still die from it.

Not really sure what you’re asking. If you’re asking do I think we should go full lockdown for months and months on end, no I do not.

But that answer is obviously factoring in economy

In a vacuum no sh*t isolating is a better choice. But we don’t live in a vacuum. There are repercussions to every choice.

And I purposely excluded the economy in my choice to answer the poll as written...

If I include the economy then I am very concerned, especially for people who have families and little to no cash reserves / safety net beyond what the government provides...

I've been into survivalism for years now since I've been a huge fan of zombie movies. I actually worked out several differing levels of zombie survival plan from simply awareness to a full blown TEOTWAWKI scenario.

This right now is technically a level 1 siege scenario. So I am prepared for that. Bunker down with sufficient supplies until it blows over. Neither a panic-cel or a flu-bro, since neither, by definition, have prepared for what this is.

There is another group that is annoying me too, and that is the ones who are saying this is TEOTWAWKI when it demonstrably isn't. Save the TEOTWAWKI plan for when it's really happening, not getting wet in the pants and hoping it is.
    Back off, Warchild.

    Seriously.

Honestly. All the people that I personally know that are over 50, aren’t worried about it. Most of them have been through worse

not conclusive as the study didnt take into account the medicine they were taking, and the study showed a lowering of LH causing the low test not that it actually nukes your nuts

I lean towards the pessimistic side, but I don´t panic at all. I don´t know yet tho, but many things that have surfaced lately point in a direction that is worrying. I like to argue for the fear mongering side, simply because if no one did, the consequences could be really bad. It´s best to be caucious and assume the worst until we know more, at least that is the approach I am taking. We don´t know the ramifications of this disease at all. Several studies and observations are pretty worrying.

I don´t know what the best solutions are, but I think flattening the curve is important.

Possible. Lung damage and testicle damage and lower testostorone has been observed in some patients. But we don´t know how many will get it. There is also the possibilty of long term cronic fatigue, as was the case with SARS, which is similar.

A few younger people with no apparent health problems have died from it (way younger than me) so it CAN kill anyone, just that the fatalities seem to be stacked in the over 70s.

I am really just following the government advice and really only going out for essential trips. how do you quantify something as long term for a virus that's been here just a few months. Long term to me implies years, I assume thats just a recovery period where people were still fatigued

I’m not claiming young people with no apparent Heath problems can die from this, but I’m gonna need to see pictures of these people before I buy into this. Just because the last person they said died with no heath problems turned out to be a huge obese whale...so I take those things with a grain of salt.

Its definately not just the flu. The flu has killed 5x more people in a typical year. Corona has a lot of catching up to do.

I think we'll see the worst of it this month, but things should start easing quickly across May.

In the meantime, have no issue with isolation. Have plenty of projects to keep me busy.

Always careful on the weekly shop. All good as long as I have decent food in, vape stuff and working internet.

I am really just following the government advice and really only going out for essential trips. If everyone has that IDGAF attitude then yes, it will spread and worsen and the lockdown enforcement will switch to the next level. I am not panicking as that's pointless. I would say that the sooner the idiots stop spreading the virus around and acting like they are protected (such as the Muslim element believing that God will take care of them if they get ill...or something laughable) the more likely the lockdown rules will lessen and business will return to normal.
Except people even in strict lockdowns are allowed to go to certain places like grocery store, hospital, etc. It;s going to spread no matter what. lockdowns just slow the rate so hospitals don't get overwhelmed is what they say.

But ignoring hospitals, the quickest way to get over the virus (albeit not the safest) would actually be let it spread like wildfire and most likely herd immunity would then kick in. Instead the tactic the government is using is a slow burn. So the people spreading it aren't keeping you indoors longer, the social distancing strategy is.

There is absolutely no way anyone can be a just flu brah at this point in time. We have almost 1500 people dying a die in the US with no end in sight, this isn't seasonal like the flu so it isn't magically going to go away, we have no vaccine, we have no nothing. Restaurant and gym industry is forever changed, and we have no idea when we all will get back to some type of normal life. So how anyone can call it the flu at this point blows my mind.

Has the flu shut down entire economy's? Did it shut down all non-essential business's ever?

This is basically where I am. I am worried, but not panicking. I am really trying to avoid getting it because I am afraid of the lung damage part. I live on the 3rd floor and have a dog that has to be walked 3x a day. I can't be so sick that I can't take care of him and I don't want permanent lung damage that will make my daily life hell. Not to mention lung damage that would make it so I couldn't work out as lifting is my only stress release.

I'm also worried for my loved ones. I know it is less likely for my son to get sick enough to need hospitalization but the thought of my baby in a hospital room sick and alone because we're not allowed to be there with him kills me. We've had him stop working at the grocery store through the rest of this.

I am following the guidelines. Staying in, washing hands very often, wiping down stuff I touch on the daily. I'm limiting errands as much as possible and when I do go to the store it's as early as possible to avoid the crowds. I wear gloves and if I could get masks I'd wear one. Thinking of wearing a bandanna over my face tomorrow when i go to the Farmers Market but I don't even know if that would help.
