There was a famous example of a hospital in the US with 900 beds, that needed 1300 billing clerks to navigate the cluster**** of different insurance programs and plans and bill patients for care. LOL @ thinking this is an efficient, or desirable way to do things. Smh
Would you perfer rationing like what is happening in Italy's universal HC system? Nobody over 60 gets a vent. The olds gotta go.

Rationing of care during an unprecedented crisis in one country with the world's highest elderly population is one thing, people being routinely denied care by insurance death panels during normal times is another thing entirely.

And sound like Obamacare should be done away with in favor of universal healthcare, then! Thanks again

    https://thehill.com/blogs/pundits-bl...enied-coverage

In March, the Doctor-Patient Rights Project, a new coalition of doctors, patients and healthcare advocates cautioning the dangers of corporate interference in medical decisions commissioned a nationwide survey of insured Americans that I ran. The data showed an alarmingly high rate of denial — 24 percent, nearly one in four — among consumers treating chronic or persistent illnesses. Additionally, in 70 percent of those cases, the denied treatment was for an illness or condition described as “serious.” Up to 43 percent of the individuals denied care described themselves as “in poor health.”

Most consumers reported waiting more than a month to even hear whether their claim was denied or not, and nearly a third, 29 percent, said their condition worsened while they waited for a decision. More than a third, 34 percent, had to put off or forgo treatment entirely because their insurance provider refused to pay for it.
And yeah, Obamacare was pretty pointless, what the US needed was proper universal coverage, like the rest of the world. Thanks again!

How did I know you'd post opinion pieces?

At least the last last one isn't an editorial, but it was written by a pollster. Not exactly an expert, is he? So let me get this straight, he claims 1 - 4 people are denied "care" not insurance? The devil is in the details, why are peopled denied, what circumstances lead to this? Which carriers? This was all supposed to be solved by Obamacare. This falls way short of "death panels" which is hyperbole.

And yeah, Obamacare was pretty pointless, what the US needed was proper universal coverage, like the rest of the world. Thanks again!

You asked for examples of people being denied care in the US and I gave you some, a couple specific examples (you can find literally countless) of denial of lifesaving care and then some data looking at it broadly. 1/4 of people reporting getting denied care, most of which were for serious conditions, is not excused by any "details". This doesn't happen anywhere else in the world, other than in the US, where you guys wear it like a badge of honour.

They aren't being denied ventilators in South Korea, Germany, Japan, UK, France, Canada, Norway, Sweden or anywhere else that has universal healthcare either, so what exactly is your point here?

If everyone is getting treated for coronavirus in the US, it's because the government is stepping in to cover those who otherwise would not, or at least without getting bankrupted in the process. Sounds like a great argument for universal healthcare. Thanks again!

It's more an argument for federal help during a disaster/crisis that is larger than any individual state.

As Trump said the feds are a backup to the states the feds don't fight the front line battles.

If you think opinion pieces rise to the level of academic vigor to prove your extraordinary claim of "death panels", then I've got a bridge to sell you.
The other article is vague, and based on a limited, self-reporting survey. Hardly conclusive. And yes, details matter. Why wouldn't you think this?

They aren't being denied ventilators in South Korea, Germany, Japan, UK, France, Canada, Norway, Sweden or anywhere else that has universal healthcare either, so what exactly is your point here?
My point was stated earlier ITT. That this pandemic has nothing to do with Universal HC. Every system is overwhelmed. Libs just want to use a crisis to get pet projects pushed through.

If everyone is getting treated for coronavirus in the US, it's because the government is stepping in to cover those who otherwise would not, or at least without getting bankrupted in the process. Sounds like a great argument for universal healthcare. Thanks again!
It isn't clear if everyone is getting treated or not, it's definitely not true on other countries. We went into unprecedented debt in order to do so. It is not sustainable. Not without everyone paying in excess of 75% in taxes. Everyone. You prepared to do this?
