this game is fukin incredible and exceeds the hype I had for it.

i'm on chapter 8.

my only complain is that barret kinda sucks to control and the lock on mechanism kinda sucks. I find myself unintentionally removing lock and locking on etc but could just be user error

very pleased with the difficulty im so glad its not easy af like kh.

the original game kinda had jessie wedge biggs as afterthoughts and didn't really feel much when they left. I'm so glad they gave them very active roles in the game.

Yeah I really want to go for the platinum as well. Haven't gotten to the pull up challenge yet, I'm only on chapter 12. I think hard difficulty will be the real challenge though, I've struggle with a couple of bosses on normal.

pullup challenge will make u so ****ing frustrated. the pro difficulty for that **** is harsh. i'm about to get back to it. usually i'm good at that sort of stuff but the AI is just too fast.

I think I prefer the way weapons were handled in the original. It’s cool that every weapon is viable but when I get a new weapon, I want it to be an upgrade.

Wut.... Bro I'm pretty sure every weapon in order has been an upgrade. Like I spent a ton of time going through this. The first one you get is better than the buster sword. Then the 3rd one, while ugly has much higher phys attack damage. And the 4th which I just got is a MASSIVE leap up in power. Did you use your SP to upgrade weapons?

Yes. That’s the point. Upgrading the weapons allows them all to be viable. They each have different things they are better at but none are pure upgrades over the others. The Buster Sword is very balanced between physical and magic. The iron blade leans more magic. The bat and Hard Edge lean more physical.

In the original, once you replace the buster sword, you never use it again. In the remake, you can use it the entire game.

I feel like so far, Hardedge is the clear overall best weapon for everything besides the magic attack category that Iron Blade has.

Nah mane I disagree. I think they please both camps here. Newer weapons are slightly better to me if you keep collecting. BUT if you want to focus on a particular build you can still choose the best weapon for that build and be happy with it.

Guess it's because I like games with that style of combat. Straight obvious upgrades just feel boring to me.

Okay I'm an idiot, since I switched to the new weapons so fast (after learning the ability) I didn't realise more upgrade paths opened up later on for the beginning weapons. So yeah you guys were right they have their strengths and weaknesses and there's no real upgrades, just gotta choose one you like based on looks and how you focus your build.

Right now Aerith is my support, Tifa deals elemental attacks and offensive spell casting while Cloud gets in there with high HP and his offensive strikes and abilities.

I need to experiment. In the original, magic starts out way more powerful than physical attacks but eventually, physical attacks become insane. I wonder if there will come a point in the remake where you can just stack attack power and melee everything while ignoring stagger or just using the physical abilities like focus thrust to stagger.

the weapons all have the same uhh formula... somewhat aside from the different ways of attacking

like attack, hp defense and mp, mp and magic power, or something like that lol, i haven't really sat down to think about it. in the end i chose to go with stacked magic power on all my dudes except barret. i think magic is dominant in this game

i think i almost got to the end last night but i didn't want to play past midnight so i probably stopped at the end lol oh my god too addicted. like an hour goes by like absolutely nothing playing this game because the story is so connected

i like what they did with weapons in this one. like you actually have a choice. in other games it's just like you ditch that one cool looking weapon because the next one is just a simple upgrade, and then you gotta ditch that one cause the next one is a simple upgrade +3 str + 3mag or something.

we got like totally different goals lol. i want to finish ff7 so i can be productive again... ugh lol. i love video games but ah man... for me RPGs are just one of those things you have to finish before u can do anything else. i'm curious what they meant about end game content, saw an interview saying there was end game content.

though this game has definitely brought back the good old days feeling. final fantasy hasn't had a story like this since ffx. two decades ago. but i hated tidus. would like to see a remake of ff8.

i think calling it ff7 remake was a horrible decision though. like the persona games add a different title to it like "persona 4 golden" or "persona 5 royal." i think they should have gone with like "ff7 midgar" or "ff7 I" not just add remake to the end.

Imo the Hardedge is the best so far in terms of raw power. Also you would want to get that special ability it gives you. At least learn it and get back to Iron Blade if you want. It uses up 2 ATB bars but is extremely powerful, especially on staggered opponents.

I really don't think they will carry stuff over, it seems like they want each part to be a full stand-alone FF entry. I could be wrong though, who knows at this stage.

Also, I don't think it takes long to max out in this game anyway. If you attempt hard mode, you will hit the level cap pretty soon.

Restarting every game with nothing you earned from the last game makes no sense and would be annoying as fuk

the tales series could do it somewhat. it sort of checks for the data if you previously played or finished the other games not sure. this was a thing integrated on ps3 i think. but I think it would be possible on the same console... but different consoles i have no idea. if u could transfer data it would be alright.

that's literally the only series that i know that did something like data transfer or sync between different games on consoles

i doubt they would transfer over materia levels though. like starting with every spell maxed out for the next game would be OP....

i think what'll happen is like... oh ****k this is how they're gonna do it...

yuffie will come in and steal the party's materia, and you have to acquire new materia all over again. she'll possibly steal weapons as well. then it makes sense, you gotta go find her, second game will probably be based in wutai with yuffie as a main character. whole first portion will probably be about stopping the proxy shinra vs wutai war. instead of jessie wedge and biggs we would get yuffie story

just guessing. but that would make a lot of sense to start like that if data transfer does not exist... until the third game.

Yeah I'm not sure how they would do it, unless they introduced some other kind of development.

Half the fun with these games is seeing your party get stronger over the course of the game, so if they start already strong I'm not sure if that would work.

finally finished. not gonna give a review since i kind of straight did it to finish. but i did do most of the content. i'm pretty satisfied, it was well worth the $90 i paid. the only part i dislike are the motorcycle sequences, they should never have put them in, or not in like that.

im mixed on the content, i wish there was more because it wasn't the complete story, but at the same time it was a LOT of content... so idk. but persona 5 put 130 hours in their story, it dragged really long, but at least it was complete. but ff7 remake has i think at least 15 hours of CG rendered cutscenes, so it's a lot more work. think its better in parts like these. just wish it was a little bit longer, but i guess it would have dragged on if it was.
