Has anyone you know tested positive for the Coronavirus?

    Unfortunately my family has

My wife's cousin who is 47 years old, has cancer (in remission), high blood pressure and diabetes, was tested positive. He was sent home to self quarantine but then got really sick, was admitted in the hospital, was in ICU and had to be sedated. That was 11 days ago, he is now in stable condition, he is dependent on the respirator 40% (down from 90%) and today they are going to see if he can breathe on his own. We are praying for him

My niece who is 34 years old was having a hard time breathing and had a high fever went o the hospital and they tested her (with a swab) test came back positive. They sent her home with medication and needs to be quarantine for 14 days, now she is feeling better, said she just doesn't have a sense of smell nor taste.

We (in NY) are expecting the worse in the next two weeks as it is suppose to peak, all we can do is wait and see.

Yes an acquaintance who is an ER worker.

I know several healthcare workers and their hospitals are full of COVID patients so they are at very high risk.

Also know someone with an extended family member who just passed away from it.

Well a cousin in Trenton NJ has self quarantined in the garage with a fever of 101.9 cant taste and has flu symptoms. She thinks it is the flu, but losing the ability to taste is a big red flag.
Glad your wife is cool, i was thinking about what you said about her a week or 2 ago.

Not - yet. Johnny sorry to hear. Interesting your niece got medication from the doctor and was sent home and that she is better. Good indication she benefited from the meds.

We have a couple of clients who tested positive. One is in ICU on a ventilator; likely not going to make it due to her age.

My fiance has a coworker who tested positive, but has been away from the office for over a week.

Had a neighbor in her early 40's that was very sick for like 7 days, but by the time she could actually get a test done--she was feeling much better/recovered. She ended up testing positive though.

Praying for your wife's cousin and your niece.

Don't know anyone who tested positive, in part due to shortage of testing, but sadly I know of someone (neighbour of friends who live round the corner, we'd definitely say hello if we saw her but didn't know very well) who passed away suddenly at home last week after suffering classic symptoms and presumed to be corona, she was in her 80s, but still sad.

Trying to be patient when I read posts about gubmint such and such and how Corona is a big fraud etc. It is true she was very elderly and seasonal flu could also have been fatal if she'd had a bad case of that, but that misses the point of how contagious and widespread corona is. Or issues like relatives not having normal funerals (IMHO funerals are for benefit of the living/grieving).

My mother went into the hospital, but was sent home without a test and directed to self quarantine. She does have some medical issues I am worried about, but she seems to be doing well.

Moved to Fl summer of 18, but was back up in the northeast end of Feb. beginning of march. A friend in SI has it. His son, a cop was diagnosed. His whole family is sick, wife and two other kids. He's on day 10 right now, said it was better than 9.

Called my accountant the other day who I visited march 2. Had a late 1099 come in that was unexpected. Left a message and his wife got back to me earlier in the week. Said he was diagnosed on the twentieth

That's it for now. Nobody in my neighborhood that I know of down here

The guy that I send my watches to for service tested positive a few days ago, but had already been feeling poorly for about 10 days. He told me that he hoped he would test positive because he would then know he'd be over it in a few days. He's feeling better now and I've seen him post on FB the last few days.

I'm sorry to read about so many family/friends with it. A woman at my church has been diagnosed as well as a friend's FIL. No immediate relatives yet but expect it at some point.

Ya, a guy at work. I was notified that he identified me as someone who may have had contact with him. Two weeks since I saw him and no symptoms from me or my family.

First confirmed US case was Jan 19. You should get tested and see if you had it so they can track if you've spread it. Had you been in China the week before?

Confirmed is the key word because practically nobody was testing before then. Go to the hospital with a lot of what we look back at now were the signs of this and they blew you off and chalked it up as being sick. I personally believe it was here the end of December / early January.

My son was extremely sick in December almost all the symptoms, we believe he had it now. We will never know, but our gut feeling says it was.

I keep hearing others think they might have had it in Dec but IF that was the case, given how highly contagious this seems to be (much more than the flu), how was it not spread throughout your family/friends. Doesn't make sense. Remember we had a particularly bad flu season as well.

^^ This. It was still in the early stages even in China in Dec. Genuine influenza can make you quite ill.

AFAIK.. there are antigen tests (do you have it now) although in short supply in many places. But there are no antibody (did you have it in past) tests generally available yet, although hopefully starting in the next 2 weeks. Probably most locations, health professionals will be prioritized and it'll be a while before non healthcare workers will be able to test. Some antibody tests are able to distinguish between relatively recent (like 1-3 months) and more historical infection (IgM versus IgG), don't know if C19 antibody test kits will be able to do that. Will be interesting as I know 2 people who had "classic" symptoms in mid to late January. Given the overlap of symptoms with seasonal flu and other conditions, it's just impossible to know without testing. December seems implausible though outside of Wuhan or direct contact with people traveling from there

I agree. I know a few people that are never sick - BUT this past January/February were really sick with the COVID symptoms. Went to a Med Express and were told they had a virus (not the flu) and it just had to run it's course. Two of these people are extremely fit guys - one in his 40's that runs a successful martial arts school here, the other guy in his late 20's is a personal trainer and police officer. Both these guys were really sick for around 3 days and not back to normal for a couple of weeks. Same for my 15 yr old granddaughter that is a very fit high school lacrosse player. All are fine now.
