    Any new book recommendations? (srs)

    Looking for fictional books only.

I was a big part of that giant "greatest fantasy" thread, so i've read most of the big fantasy books, but am looking for new material to read.

    Anyone have any recommendations?

If you haven't yet read The Stand, you really should.

The Woman in the Window was gripping. Kind of fluffy but entertaining.

Interesting. Just re-watched LOTR on Netflix this weekend. And i hate to be blasphemous, but i didnt care for the books very much. Thought it was OVERLY descriptive and just too tedious for me.

If you like firearms, Monster Hunter International series is great imo. If there were such things as popcorn books they would qualify. Nothing super deep, just action and killing stuff. Larry Correia is the author.

Ive read it before. Pretty good, but a little too soft for my liking (if that makes any sense?).
Obviously a good message, but i prefer novels/books with multiple story lines, world building, character development, etc.

This or anything by Robert Ludlum.

"To be a warrior is not a simple matter of wishing to be one. It is rather an endless struggle that will go on to the very last moment of our lives. Nobody is born a warrior, in exactly the same way that nobody is born an average man. We make ourselves into one or the other."-- Carlos Castaneda

Read Lovecraft if you are into creepy cults, horror-mixed fiction and chit. However read with a clear mind, his works are hard to get into when there is someone watching TV next to you or your neighbors are mowing the lawn.

Have you read 11-22-63 by Stephen King?

Brah goes back in time, to stop the assassination of JFK.

The plot isn't really important, it's more of a homage to 50s and 60s America. With an, IMO, incredibly well written lead character. If the first chapter grabs you, you'll love the rest of the book.

Edit: I just saw you've read it. I'll leave the post up, to encourage others to read it.

King's short story of 1922 honestly haunted me for day or 2 after reading it. The way he wrote about how the dude was consumed by guilt...

Highly recommended. I thought the movie was trash though.

Edit: I just saw you've read it. I'll leave the post up, to encourage others to read it.

King's short story of 1922 honestly haunted me for day or 2 after reading it. The way he wrote about how the dude was consumed by guilt...

Highly recommended. I thought the movie was trash though.
Honestly, one of the most entertaining books ive ever read. Had me hooked from the first few pages.
    Highly recommend as well.

If you dig Medieval wars, vikings and English, I recommend The Saxon Stories Series by Bernard Cornwell (badass author)
It's about the time the Danes invaded England, when England was still divided into several kingdoms
The protagonist is a Northumbrian character who was captured by the Vikings when he was a kid, learned all of their customs and knowledge of warfare, and is quite bold and entertaining

Wheel of Time - Loved the books, took a while to finish the series though.

I've started Worm which has been pretty good so far. Its about kids getting super powers but not the typical way.

Only reason i never did Wheel of Time is because everyone in the other thread kept saying how all the middle books are just filler/unreadable.
Not sure i want to go through all that haha.

Agreed on this. Also adapted to a pretty solid series by the BBC then picked up by Netflix called 'The Last Kingdom'. Fairly similar to Vikings. Waiting on Season 4 now.

OP, Wheel of Time is great. Yes the middle books drag things out a bit but if you enjoy fantasy it's a must read. Not as grimy as GoT so if you need regular mention of veiny dwarf cock to get you through a book you won't like it but it's still a classic. I tend to agree with your blasphemous take on LotR, and while Jordan will spend a page describing the fringe on a tapestry, I never really found it tedious since for me he just draws you into his incredibly developed world. Sucks he died and couldn't finish but Sanderson does a solid job wrapping it up. It blows that the Amazon series in development seems to be infected with SJW bull**** though.

    another good one is

Ender's Game. The book is better than the movie. I would read the book first.
