Gooooo! I live in Xiamen, Fujian province I have to add. One of the least affected areas of Coronavirus in China. I was able to go out everyday during the virus 'crisis' But still have to get checked for temperature going in and out of my apartment complex and most stores in the city.
But all shops are open again, shopping malls are full, coffee shops and bars are packed along the streets

Xiamen is one of the biggest growing cities in China and the world in fact.
I read somewhere that Xiamen has about 10% population growth a year. No wonder, The air is kinda good here, we have beaches, short flights to philippines etc.
Gyms have gotten better all over China, many modern style gyms like in Europe...but still MASSIVELY overpriced. In Germany you can get a 15 euro monthly membership with free water. In China you pay 3x that, but that is all over Asia, also Thailand etc

I am from Germany my dude.
Chinese Communism is a lie. It is capitalism in truth. Everyone tries to make more money in the shadows.
I do think tracking via WeChat app for example is more serious here but countries see what China is doing and they keep up.
In truth I fear for all our future, I believe London has the most surveillance cameras after Beijing.

Very hard to say.
I must say tho, the quarantine was real here. I was lucky that I could go out every day.
But I know foreigner friends in other provinces and cities that just could go out 1 time every 2 days.
And until today temperature is checked at every entrance and have to wear face mask.
People in Wuhan legit couldn't leave their apartment complexes and had to pick up packages and grocery deliveries in stacking order to minimize human contact.
But I had this too kinda. Now it's easier again. But up until 2 weeks ago, all deliveries had to be picked up in front of the apartment gate and I have a apartment residence card to proove I live here.

Interesting thread
Do you feel like life in China for a foreigner has changed a lot in the last few years? I lived there in 2015 and heard the attitudes are shifting.
Have you noticed the people becoming less open and friendly towards Westerners since America's failed trade war and increasing hostility/sinophobia? Have the government been ramping up anti western propaganda in turn?
Good luck convincing miscers that life in China isn't some dystopian nightmare lolGymnastics / Oly Lifting / BJJ / Kickboxing /

I think it has shifted somewhat in the big cities like Beijing. I have lived in Beijing before and I think nationalism got the better of some of them.
But I can honestly say here in Xiamen, in Fujian province, I get a Xie Xie (Tahnk you) every time I hold the door for another person, I legit enjoy the personalities here.

Official I don't work here. I am here on a marriage Visa you can say. MY Wive's mom has 3 companies and you can't work officlaly on a family/marriage visa.
CHina doesnt give out Green Card's so easily...I believe there are just 5000 or something like that so far handed out to all foreigners.
Up until 4 years ago I had to renew my family visa every year, nowadays I get a 2 year stamp every time when it's time to renew
EDIT: YES and it's true there is a system now in place what class of foreign worker you are. If you are a scientist you are a Class A foreign worker and if you are just an english class teacher you are the lowest class and they don't care too much about you and you would get a C on your Visa
