Easy test if quarantine helped slow corona virus

Corona virus and the flu are spread very similar if not exactly the same way. This gives us a valuable control group.

If the average flu numbers at the end of this year are below average (or below average for this time period) then that means the quarantine was, most likely, effective. If the numbers are the same or higher then the quarantine was not effective.

In this way we can see if 'flattening the curve' was/is a legitimate strategy or not.

Who is verifying the flu numbers and how accurate is it? The hospitals are already overwhelmed by the disease from china.

No ones doubting the method that quarantined reduce how fast and how much it spreads.

Everyone is doubting that the virus was ever dangerous enough to warrant having millions become unemployed and adding trillions to the debt in just a few weeks.

Even with it being more dangerous than normal flu, they could have asked only certain age groups to quarantine. Like the 65+ people who are the highest at risk.

Quarantine will absolutely help SLOW the spread.

However, when America is no longer willing to be quarantined in a couple weeks we will be all hit at once again and not really in a better position.

    OP makes an excellent point.
Except 'flu doesn't get tested for either.

You don't need a test to know that will work. Not to mention hospitals are trying for the most part only doing phone interviews unless absolutely neccesary. So alot of people with the flu won't go to the doctor this year and because of that the flu numbers are going to be under reported this year.

The way to test if a quarantine slows the spread of a virus that's largely spread by interpersonal contact is to see if limiting interpersonal contact slows the spread of said virus? Impeccable logic. Some sort of super genius at work there.

Actually they do on water droplets from your body when you sneeze and cough hence the 6ft thing as that's generally the distance they travel before settling to the floor.
