In this situation Cerakote on the Ohio Power Bar was probably a good idea, it dulls the knurling down just a little which might make cleans a little more bearable. That barbell is a workhorse so I'm sure you will be covered for years to come!

Just to chime in for anybody who might use this thread for reference, I bought a York 32004 about 8 years ago and it's still my go to. It's my "one bar to rule them all."

They don't get much love, but my first 'quality' barbell was a York North American 32121 (w/center knurling). It got sold off when I went back to the commercial gym for a while, but it was a quality barbell and the 30mm shaft was STIFF as heck. Found an old vid of me squatting with 275lbs and couldn't see any noticeable bend in the bar even with me bouncing around like a newb. Very interesting knurling on those bars as well, looked mild but would leave your back on fire after squats.

The only "modern" York barbell I have any experience with is the 6 footer (32114) I bought for my boys to use until they could move up to a 45# bar.
I won't say that it's a total POS, but I can say that it's not much better than the crappy ones you get with a cheap 300# set. Definitely not worth what I paid for it. The CAP 6' bar (basically a shorter OB-86B) is so much nicer in every way...and cheaperLast edited by Stasher1; 03-31-2020 at 02:12 PM.

For anyone in the ATL area looking for a quality barbell, Lynx posted this yesterday on IG:
lynxbarbell
By some miracle we were able to pull our last
two crates of barbells from storage and will release them around 3pm today. There is a very limited supply of 50x20kg and 50x15kg Hybrid Bearing bars.
20kg-$245

That's funny, I almost mentioned the Lynx hybrid bearing bar because I remembered you being pretty fond of it. But after reading the description I ruled it out due to the 28mm shaft for squatting and pressing. The specs remind me of V1 of the REP Stainless barbell, had a mix of things that could suit about any situation.

I like my OPB w/ cerakote. It's the only bar I have, so can't compare it to anything else other than what our commercial gym had when I was going there which I couldn't tell you what they were.
There was a time, however, that I wish it had center knurl. I've moved away from back squatting and moved to front squats, so not really needed now.You don't have to be great to start, but you have to start to be great.
