South Korea imposed strict curfews.
Lol @ thinking China has got a handle on it.
I’ve just watched the video on livel**k with bodies lying on the street, and all sorts of chit being pumped into the air by fleets of big rigs.
So no, there is no short term fix. So we should ignore it?
I’ll survive cuz I’m young and have no health complications, my parents/grand parents can just deal with it amirite?

There is no real treatment. Even ventilators have a low success rate. If you require ventilation the chances of you surviving is 3%.

You know we've got live webcams now.
Here's how "strict social distancing" looks in Japan where nobody clearly gives a fook about this killer virus:

No, the current plan is that everybody is expected to get it. This is of course utterly ridiculous, but the memory of past actual deadly pandemics is gone.
"Fatality rate growth" was a wrong phrase. Total number of fatalities is going up by 30% in a lot of places. US is not far behind. It is sustainable at his point. It will of course have to saturate. Based on %1 CFR and 60% of population getting it, the value it will saturate will be very painful.

Collusion between Democratic Party and the Chinese
I believe that the Corona virus was formulated by the Chinese at the highly infectious, biological, research lab located in Wuhan. Furthermore, senile and corrupt Joe Biden and his family have done tons of business with China when Biden was VP. I believe that the Corona virus was released by the Chinese to tank the American and world economies, and cause senile and corrupt Joe Biden to be elected as President this, coming November. Biden will be controlled by the Chinese like a puppet, while he and his entire family become super rich with a multitude of Burisma type deals.

Most people are waking up
https://www.foxnews.com/world/sweden...virus-lockdown
Sweden has recommended its citizens work from home (if they’re able) and practice social distancing. Gatherings that exceed 500 people have been banned – compared with the ban on gatherings of more than two people in the U.K. and Germany.
The government has also advised secondary schools and universities to close and conduct lectures online. Bars and restaurants, meanwhile, are allowed to stay open.
Citizens have largely ignored these recommendations, according to a report from AFP. Over the weekend, bars and restaurants were packed with patrons.

Are you gonna try to explain what you mean or should i just neg you
6,820 deaths in Italy out of 69,176 infected, 9.8%
Scale that to the entire population (60.48 mil), that means 5,927,040 deaths. This official 9.8% number is obviously innacurate. Corona =/= black plagueLast edited by Vrykul; 03-24-2020 at 08:57 PM.

Only 12% of those deaths were directly caused by the corona virus:
https://www.telegraph.co.uk/global-h...ts-died-italy/
And 99% of the victims had pre-existing conditions:
https://www.bloomberg.com/news/artic...ess-italy-says
Don't look at Italian statistics. Look at German or Austrian statistics. They're actually counting their deaths and serious/critical cases correctly.

The non-insane part of my brain wants to believe this is just an overly cautious response to a never-before-seen pandemic event.
But something is smelling more and more fishy by the day.
I've been against Trumptards parroting MAGA rhetoric on Twitter for this whole event (and I'm a republican who voted for Trump)
But starting to believe they have a point....

Everybody can take this pandemic in their own way. What I do know is that there is long term stability coming due to legislation. Basically we are just sending the sick off on a hospital ship and they'll be further quarantined until they are cured. As long as the bell curve of the number of new infection flattens, everything will be looking good again.

It's pretty clear that this is worse than your regular flu for multiple reasons
- Many estimates point the fatality rate to be around 1-2%, 10-20x more than your regular flu
- Flu season has started in October, Coronavirus as far as we know hasn't hit america until about 5 weeks ago (could have gone undetected for months, who knows though)
- Even with all these social distancing measures that we never do for the regular flu, people are still getting infected (but perhaps this could be partially attributed to social distancing not being the most effective, rather than how serious the disease is)
- Coronavirus is much more easily transmitted
However, the answer to this isn't to shut down the economy for months on end, which is what some experts are saying what needs to be done in order to largely suppress the threat. A vaccine won't be readily available until 2021 if we are lucky. At some point the government will have to remove the partial lockdown and have the economy run. By the very fact that every single person has to go to a grocery store to buy essentials pretty much, alone gives the population a relatively high chance of contracting it. I won't be surprised if 10x the number of people have it than what is being reported though. Who knows. If that is the case though it would pretty much be at flu levels of mortality. Like I said who knows. However let's consider that adding CV ontop of people who are hospitalized because of flu is not an ideal outcome either in the short-term.
more aggressive tactics most likely will be needed to fight this virus head on, you can't buy time for 18 months until a vaccine comes out.
