Question Bench press: light weight, down slow, up fast

When doing bench press if you push bar up fast and let the bar fall slow down with a lighter weight How this differs for growth of muscle or type of muscle you work compared to lifting some between moderate to heavy weight where you lift bar up down same time I see athletes do this sometimes runners/boxers mainly

It doesn't really. Slow eccentrics are sometimes used for technique work but don't offer much in terms of hypertrophy

Lowering the weight slower while under control puts more mechanical stress on the muscle(s) so it quite useful for hypertrophy.

Except it doesn't. Because it artificially limits load.
