At this point I honestly DGAF. At all. If an utter and complete collapse of our economy (taking the world down with us) is the only way to save our country from turning into yet another socialist paradise, so be it.

Same here.
I think this proposed stimulus package is a good sign going forward. All the free stuff (healthcare, student loans/university, UBI) talked about is said to be paid by "the one percent" or sometimes even "the top tenth of the top one percent" if implemented. And they always say "you are voting against your own interest" by voting against all this free stuff, unless you are jeff bezos himself.
But look at this stimulus package. 75k annual income limit tapered down to 99k? This stimulus will go to the lower class, and the cost is going to be added to the deficit, whose interest gets paid for by the middle class. Little doubt in my mind that all the "free" stuff would be similar. I won't get any of these benefits, yet it'll all be paid for by me, a guy who makes a relatively good income but yet still can't even buy my own home yet.
Not upset at all it got blocked. I've got my own problems to deal with, stop reaching into my pockets.Best lifts:

Just heard that the dems are demanding return of Obamaphones.
Washington Times:
A 2017 report from the Government Accountability Office claimed that the "Obamaphone" program, which gave cell phones to poor people, stashed $9 billion in private bank accounts and was "rife with fraud," the Washington Times reported at the time. The GAO report found that about 10.6 million people have an Obamaphone, but 36 percent of them may not qualify. The audit also concluded that more than 5,500 people were found to be enrolled for two phones, while the program was paying for about 6,400 phones for persons the government has listed as dead, the paper reported.

The nonsense that Dems have stabbed the American people in the back over twice now that they wanted in the bill:
Corporate pay statistics by race and race statistics for all corporate boards at companies receiving assistance.
Bailing out all current debt of postal service
Required early voting
Required same day voter registration
10k bailout for student loans
For companies accepting assistance, 1/3 of board members must be chosen by workers
Provisions on official time for union collective bargaining
Full offset of airline emissions by 2025
Greenhouse gas statistics for individual flights
Retirement plans for community newspaper employees
$15 minimum wage at companies receiving assistance
Permanent paid leave at companies receiving assistance
AND
$35,000,000 for the JFK Performing Arts Center.
What the ever living phuc???

"USA Today noted that Pelosi’s bill calls for nationwide ballot harvesting, a shady practice that is believed to lead to voter fraud:
Perhaps the most troubling sections of the bill are under the rubric ‘‘American Coronavirus/COVID–19 Election Safety and Security” or ‘‘ACCESS” Act. This section would impose requirements on states for early voting, voting by mail, required mailing of absentee ballots to everyone, ballot harvesting (i.e., having third parties deliver absentee ballots), online voter registration, same-day registration and other practices which undermine confidence in the integrity of the ballot. In these days of increasing threats to election security we should be moving rapidly back to in-person paper ballots, but this bill would be a radical step in the wrong direction."
