1 inch Standard Barbell Weight Capacity

Well it happened, gym rats are getting thirsty over gyms closing and are emptying all the fitness stores. Even the classifieds are going out quickly. Could only find myself a 1 inch bar rated 250lbs. I don't intend on lifting super heavy and will do volume work, but I'll likely need to go above 250 on the squat. Will it be a bit risky if I go a bit over the rated weight? Maybe close to 300?

It's a Canadian made Northern Light bar if that matters.

At least Northern Light is a legitimate brand. I'd say use it until you notice a permanent bend and then get something else. Avoid dramatic weight increases. Should bend well before there's a safety concern.

I've gotten 280lbs of plates on to those bars regularly without problems.
I can tell time. Time cannot tell me.

Formerly LactoseTolerant. I'm not very imaginative.

    Awesome thanks.
This brings me way back when I used to train with a cheap standard barbell in my parents' basement 15 years ago lol Was pretty weak back then so I don't think I ever went above 250lbs.

If you have any metal markets around, you also buy a 7ftx1" cold rolled 1018 or 1045 bar and 2x1" shaft collars, might be good for 300lb, probably like $30 for the bar. If you can measure your plates and if they are 1 1/8" hole, then you could go oversize with a 1 1/16" bar which would get you a bit more weight capacity.
