I Find "Gymnastic" Calisthenics way more impressive than pushing big weight

    just my opinion ofc

I ordered a pair of Parallette bars, and my current goal is to learn to do a handstand on them

I've also ordered a pair of gymnastic rings. feels like the amount of shoulder endurance and core strength you develop through this type of thing will benefit me greatly for my boxing

Seen enough guys who do calisthenics lift more weight than bloat lords who struggle to deadlift 405 to know there is more than one way to get strong.

Honestly it is useless for anything other than weightlifting. I started working out cause I thought it would make my job of delivering beer easier. Like most gym noobs I based it around the big 3. I worked out for 8 months and got a 455 deadlift (conventional, because never been a fan of sumo), a 330x2 squat and a 285 bench.

Guess what? Kegs (which weigh 165 a piece) still felt as heavy as ever, hand carts of beer still felt the same, I didn’t move any faster. So I cancelled my membership and started calisthenics every other day, religiously. Like magic, I had more energy, moved faster at work and I wasn’t tired all the time. My physique is more balanced and the closed chain nature of calisthenics boost your heart rate so it burns more fat to boot.

Good work m8 not falling into the trap of thinking if you don’t lift weight you won’t be strong. That is the worst type of bullchit of all the types of bullchit there is.

    this

they all work out with heavy weights in addition, maybe not bodybuilder workouts but cathetics alone dont give you these results.
That being said, lifting weights from A to B was never really impressive to me. Cathletics is interesting for sure but a day only has so many hours.

I like doing ring dips and ring push ups. I make the straps as long as possible and wide. Yep, stabilization is pretty good. I go on bars, I can.....will be ridiculous how stable I am.

It's all about what you train. The difference is lifting weights is more objective where as a 125 pound phag doing muscle ups can't be compared to a 180 pound man.The same thing can be said about manlets and ROM however.

I was doing high pull ups. Pull ups to @just above belly button for me. Some people can do it to the waist. Anyway, some dude said something along the line of 'we will get there too'. I could hear them, people seem to talk and think they are not heard. His buddy replied, something like '160lbs twink, which is the only reason I can do what I do' I embellished.

I was @160lbs so lol. But if that fat fukc ever had it in him to cut his fat out, he'd be 120lbs. Just LOL at bloat mode.

I was @160lbs so lol. But if that fat fukc ever had it in him to cut his fat out, he'd be 120lbs. Just LOL at bloat mode.
Lifting a bar is more objective if you exclude manlets and their 10 inch bench press ROM,which is less work compared to a taller man.But the same thing can be said about calisthenics except now the actual resistance itself is subjective.

Bloatlords are the worst,i agree. Most delusional group of lifters ever. Not too far behind are calisthenics fuqcbois however. When i see a non-jooced guy at my height and weight doing this **** i will give him his props.

One of my games at the gym is to stack out every single lat pull down station. I am huge into pull ups. The one's that don't balance out for one arm, I like to stack out and then go one arm holds, negatives. I don't use straps. There is no reason.

Techriding I think you forgot to read the post brah, he says he finds the movements more impressive than big numbers, not talking about body comp.

Personally since I do both, big OHP and Clean and jerk numbers are impressive to me, and hard movements in calisthenics are as well.

Um, no! DON'T try this at home folks, if you have never taken up some formal gymnastics training!!

Gymnastics is not about developing aerobic or anaerobic endurance! This sport revolves around power, strength, muscular control, balance, coordination, gracefulness, agility and poise... Do you realize how difficult it would be to efficiently train for both sports at the same time?? Take up hitting a heavy bag or use mitts right now. That's my "recommendation."

One more thing- gymnastics is NOT calisthenics! Calisthenics just means body weight exercises such as push ups, handstand push ups, bar or ring dips (forget dips on rings if you're new to this apparatus), pull ups, planks and more basic exercises, etc...).

Fact: My first-generation uncle was a boxer who fought Sugar Ray Robinson! He also fought in the war, sacrificing the career he deeply loved, so people could have the right to freedom.

Let's show RESPECT for the POLICE and ALL FIRST RESPONDERS by helping to keep THEM SAFE AND SOUND, and thereby able to PROTECT US!

Doing both is fine...just start slow. You can train for both, just don’t expect to be at the elite level for either if you do.
