    incline pushups

first time doing incline pushups to hit the lower chest. when doing these, should you tuck your elbows? I know not to flare them, but to kind of make an arrow with your arms/hands/shoulders, but cueing to keep my elbows tucked helps me feel my chest more.

I don't have a video, but I had my hands a little farther then shoulder width, elbows tucked, core tight etc, and touched my mid chest to the bench. is that correct form?

if anyone has a form video for incline pushups, please drop it!

I would say incline push ups are only worth anything if you are too weak to do flat or decline push ups.

You can move your hand position to hit the chest differently.

Edit: You must spread some Reputation around before giving it to jademonkey again.

Currently, push ups aren't a part of my workouts, but when they were, I always tended to keep the elbows close to the body. The beauty of the exercise is that you can make it harder or easier by changing the incline/decline. Angle it to achieve your rep goals. Only reps in the 40-50 range will infuse the muscles with capillaries, but that's for after you have the muscles to infuse and before you train for strength.
It is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick society.

It's easy to not be afraid of tigers when you're sitting in your living room watching a television program about tigers. When you're in the jungle where the tigers are, it's quite a different story.

Order a pair of push up bars/handles for $10. You'll get a much better ROM at the bottom and it'll be more comfortable for your wrists in different positions.

As suggested above, do variations: flat/decline/incline and close/reg/wide.

My question is: how to add weight to push ups? I have a weight-belt for pull-ups and dips but can't figure out how to use it for push ups because it just hits the floor. Guess I could elevate myself by doing them on top of a couple chairs?

And I've seen people suggest wearing a heavy backpack but wouldn't it slide all over the place?

Have you tried using pushup bars and a weighted vest?

Also, if you get a camping/hiking/skateboarding backpack that has straps that go across the front you should be able to keep it in place while doing pushups.

I have push ups bars, just not a weighted vest, guess I could buy one but was looking to use what I already have.

And I have a Northface camping backpack with the front straps, might give it a go. Thanks for the srs response, repped.

You can do archer push-ups to make it more difficult and pseudo planche push ups, planche leans, tucked planche, straddle planche and eventually an actual planche. Or just do the archer push ups, planche will take a lot of time and effort.
