Arrow Bulk or cut during corona?

I was bulking and eating many calories and i am not big yet , but since all gyms closed here i am gonna workout at home (mostly pushups and ab crunches ) , now since i can't increase the weight week by week like i used to do at the gym , do u think it would be a good idea to cut so that my abs and muscles (which are not big yet) gets more defined? That of course means that ill eat 500 calories less than my ted. Or should i simply continue bulking with many calories?

I'd probably recommend maintaining rather than a cut/bulk. Realistically, virtually all the weight that you gain on a bulk while doing nothing but pushups and crunches will just be fat, and there's no point cutting out of nowhere just for the sake of it.

If you don't have access to a gym you should maintain.

IMO it depends... you can still do high volume pull ups, push ups, dips, in many cases...

It also depends on your TDEE... if you simply add in more other non-lifting activity, you'll still burn just as much energy off. So perhaps you won't be 'bulking' in any real sense, but it doesn't mean you'll gain any fat.

When you get it, cut. Feed a cold , starve a fever. Or is it starve a cold, feed a fever? I always get that mixed up.

    I plan on maintaining now.

As someone else said, eating in a surplus will turn to fat without heavy liftng. And I was always led to believe that when cutting you should lift as heavy as possible to prioritise holding on to muscle.

Either way, I expect to lose some muscle doing just push ups and ab crunches, etc :-(

Just came here to ask what y'all are doing. This is also what I have been doing and planning to continue while gyms are closed, for the same reason. I think gaining muscle will be hard on a bulk, and maintaining will be tough/impossible on a cut.

However, I am getting decent stimulus it seems from front squatting my wife while we both wear heavy backpacks, pseudo-planche push ups, one arm push ups, handstand push ups, pull ups, pullovers, front levers, SLRDL, etc.

I think someone without much muscle yet could easily gain on calisthenics, but at my weight, having more lean mass than when I was doing gymnastics, I highly doubt I could gain without gym access.

Also, cutting is likely to suppress your immune function. Bad idea in these circumstances...

You know it's desperate times when you're doing couch leg presses, whilst the cat licks your face and rubs himself on you.

But...I did find a quid under there so it has its positives.
I have a good joke about water retention. But I'm going to hold onto it for now.

even if you have a substantial amount of weight to lose? For some I thought cutting might be a good idea, not working, more time to cook/meal prep and cardio, learning healthy habits they can use after lockdown

How exactly do you hold her whilst front squatting (srs)? Is she like dangling from your neck, or going as stiff as a board and you hold her similar to a barbell?

Edit: sorry I'm thinking of front squats. I guess you just piggy back for back squats.

I've found a big tractor tyre in the corner of a field somewhere which I'm going to flip over several times. The only issue is if the farmer removes it.

More like zercher squats I guess. Just in my arms in front of me. We both wear weighted backpacks. She wears it in front.

    I don't know.

I don't think anyone can put a number on it. I know that an energy deficit will suppress certain faculties including the immune response. I would speculate that being overweight would mean you have more energy to spare so the effect would be lower but still there. We are talking about small probabilities here, what are the chances that a) someone gets the dreaded virus, b) their immune response is reduce by enough to change a minor illness into a major one? I just don't know.
