The concern I have for PS5 as it stands now is how it’s going to handle 4k 60+ fps resolution? And with HDR and Ray tracing?

I can’t really see it as next gen if it can’t utilize 4k TVs with HDMI 2.1

Currently the only thing PC wise that can do 4K with ray tracing at 60+ FPS is a 2080Ti. Now admittedly, neither consoles will be on that level, but the PS5 isn't even remotely close. I understand that consoles get more attention as far as optimization, but I still don't see the PS5 hanging with the XSX. It will have dumbed down graphics compared to the XSX to achieve 4K, 60FPS, with ray tracing. Period.

The one thing we know for sure is it won't handle it as well as the XseX. Now does the 30% increase in GPU power equate to 30% better performance? Less? More? Those are the details we won't know until the hardware is in the hands of people that can compare the first multiplats.

With halo infinite being released on PC, I have no desire for an xbox. I don't really have any desire for a playstation either, I just don't play games enough, but I wouldn't mind playing the next god of war I suppose.

One manufacture has specs that make one look like the clear winner on paper, but it would only be noticeable in a lab (or professional driver) in a situation that would almost never be realized in day to day use.

An equivalent GPU to the series X already costs more than the entire console, let alone you'll need to buy a CPU, RAM, motherboard, case, Power unit, etc.

Running a 2080ti/i9, PS5/switch is a no brainer for me for the sweet exclusives and have no reason to get an xbox in the future. The xbox 1(aka netflix player) was one of the worst purchases I have made in my life.

Povertycels who can't afford a nice PC should probably get the xbox though. Although by the time the xbox launches, it will probably only cost an extra $200-300 to get a PC that is on par with it so there isn't really a reason for anyone to buy the xbox.

Yeah with it being weaker I would definitely expect a PS5 Pro to come out eventually, and that is probably when I will buy one.

I really hope the GPU price to performance level improves so that is possible. Right now we aren't even close.

They won't have the same hardware, but with the exception of the the pro variant released in 4 years or so (likely sooner for PS) they will all be very similarly capable. Typically a Slim version and a Media-less version.

The reason you do this is price to performance. This machine is better than 97% of computers on steam. You won't be able to buy a similar speced computer anywhere near this price point for a few years.

I do love my PS3 still! It's just the best console from it's era, especially if you got the 3'rd rev top loader model. It helps got I got one of those nice Logitech wheel setups, the PS3 had some of the best driving games ever made. Gran Turismo 6, Test Drive Unlimited 2, Midnight Club LA, those games are still hard to beat all these years later. It's also great how many classics we got re-released on it.
