Question Should I have that cheat meal after leg day?

    Hey guys,

So I've been working out for 50 days with a personal trainer and I must say that I am starting to get really happy with the results.

    I am 23 and, 1,72 cm tall and I weight 67,5.
I always did sports my whole life and I am usually able to gain muscle fast.

So straight to the point, these last 2 years I had a super sedentary life and I've gained a lil bit of belly fat.

My objective is to gain muscle (not a whole lot, just to grow a little bit more) and to lose belly fat to look lean for summer.

I've been working out with this guy and he made me a specific meal and training plan according to my needs. Everything is been going well, I've been working out three times a week, doing cardio two times a week and I am noticing that I'm gaining muscle slowly and I am losing a little bit of belly fat, however, there's one thing that I would like to know your opinion on.

Every Wednesday is leg day, and after leg day he tells me to go to mc Donald's and eat everything I want, so I've been going to mc Donald's for the past 5 Wednesdays and I literally eat all I can.

He tells me that this will help me a lot, and he even tells me to eat ice cream with the meal and all that. So I do so.

My question is, if I avoided this cheat meal wouldn't I be burning the belly fat faster? Should I continue to do things exactly as he says?

    Thanks in advance!

Why not? Could you please elaborate on that?
I'm just asking because the guy is training one of the most famous bodybuilders in my country so I would say that he knows what he's doing... Or maybe not, I really don't know

McDonald’s is not great for you. You could always just make your own burgers or something. Would be a lot healthier. Also...I’m assuming you are not a professional bodybuilder lol

There are definitely healthier alternatives that taste just as good, if not even better

Just to clarify, you're asking if consuming fewer calories means you'll loose weight quicker?

You burn fat by consuming less calories than you burn. Also, your body doesn't reset its calorie counter when the clock strikes midnight, it's the weekly average that really counts.

If you're in a deficit every day then your McDonalds binge probably isn't great enough to put you into a weekly surplus. It will certainly slow your progress, but by how much is difficult to say unless you are meticulously counting calories.

    My advice would be:

    1) If you really want the weekly McDonalds and if it doesn't seem to be affecting your progress, then carry on. One day of McDonalds and being happy is better than giving up altogether, especially if you are currently happy with your results.

    2) Personally, I would be inclined to have the weekly McDonalds but limit what I ate. For example a Big Mac and fries one week, fries and ice cream the next, rather than all out eating as much as you can.

    3) When I was cutting I would have a monthly binge where I ate as much chinese food as I wanted. It didn't seem to affect my progress and I was happy doing it once a month. Once a week would probably have undone all of my progress that week.

    4) This all assumes that the McDonalds is putting you into a surplus for that day. If you're still in a deficit for the day (which you might be, depending on what else you eat that day), then it really isn't an issue at all for weight loss.

    Hope this helps

Really going to nitpick here? You inferred it, and said "McDonald’s is not great for you." Explain why.

Why so hostile? Op, just do your own research on the subject. You’re always going to get opposing views.

Asking you to defend your position is hostile?
