You're referring to an overall death rate for all persons, which the numbers you posted are correct for that. That still makes it far more deadly overall than the flu however which is at about or a little below 0.1%. COVID-19 is most likely between 0.5 and 1% for all persons infected.

The chart of age-range death rates for flu and COVID-19 I posted are accurate comparisons between the two, as BOTH the flu numbers AND the covid-19 numbers are from known-deaths/known-casesx100.

    Symptoms for Covid-19
    - diarrhea
    - headache
    - pressure on sinuses (eyes especially)
    - body ache especially pronounced in the neck and middle traps adjacent to lungs. Some may get pain in their lower back
    - throat irritation and dryness. Feeing of constriction that occurs randomly
    - chest tightness with noticeable effort required to breath. Minor amount of phlegm

You will have a general feeling of tiredness for a few days and some chest tightness with possible diarrhea. This is followed by a severe headache with body aches and throat irritation for a week. After this, you will most likely recover as your headache, sinus issues and body ache dissipates. Breathing becomes much easier and you may experience some runny nose. Nothing like a cold though. Just as the sinus pressure alleviates.

This is from two cases of well trained high VO2 Max people with top tier genetics.
if im experiencing some of these symptoms do i have covid?

We're experiencing this discrepancy because Covid-19 is new to us and we have not yet developed enough exposure and immunity

Based upon rate of infection, recovery rates in different countries, and death among certain age groups: this really appears to be like a different version of the flu.

I can't reveal too much info man... I have a lot of haters here (i.e. manlets and ugly females, so basically 95% of miscers).

I just will say Tom Hanks was on point. Direct, no dramas and you should believe what he said. I didn't have any fevers though. But my comparison point is a flu fever, so if it isn't near this, I don't care.

    https://twitter.com/tomhanks/status/1237909897020207104

I will add, don't panic if your chest feels tight. It's like the feeling of free diving beyond 30 feet or so... you get that pressure on your lungs. You only need hospital care when each breath is extremely short and shallow. I am not sure if you have seen people when they are close to dying, but it is like this. A young (< 60) healthy person with no health issues will make it out A-OK

    Yes, over reacting.

It was refreshing to see Tom Hank's tweet. And he's in his 60's!

I have had colds worse than this with secondary bacterial infections. My last bout of tonsillitis was much worse!

I think operating at 70% is ok... the headache was strong and is something I don't want again, but the flu was much worse as a package. When I got the flu, I actually was knocked out for about 4 days and the fever was just hell on earth. Absolute still vividly recall the taste in my mouth where you can taste nothing because all body senses are shot from being fried. You should be more scared of the common flu IMO.

Do you have any gastrointestinal issue? Headache, or body ache?

Chest pain does not equal chest infection. And I only know two cases directly, so it doesn't sound the same.

Tell this to the billions of morons that don't understand low virulence = easier to spread due to the host not dying just like other cold strains.

You have people fear mongering saying: "It might lead to HIV!". It's just beyond a joke at the moment.

I personally don't think you have it. I am only going on what I have seen or experienced with my own eyes. Both had diarrhea, headache and body aches plus discomfort in the chest and throat.

If your throat isn't feeling congested in a come and go manner, don't worry. It may be hay fever or some other allergen.

Stay calm man... you are ok and will be ok.

    Thanks for the info man.

Btw, are you in quarantaine now or can you do what you will since you recovered.

The whole world is free to move around... only fear has paralyzed everyone. However, if you are weak, like many wall flowers and neck beards, you gonna stress out and make your self worse. Believe me, panicking when you are sick actually makes you much worse. Panicking before hand is a concept I cannot comprehend, so the world isn't really ready for reality.

Just go about your lives. If you have yet to catch an infection in a while, just accept that they are ALWAYS around. They have never gone away, they just have seasons.

You are fine. Just stay home and rest.

Honey lemon tea, no dairy (causes inflammation like a mofo and is BAD for your stomach anyways), and OTC meds to reduce headache if it is unbearable - which you don't have.

Just chill man. I've seen people with minor ailments escalate from panic. It is insane how the mind can cause the body to crash. You are young, calm down.

Just an FYI, there's been a lot of advice NOT to take ibuprofen if you think you have Corona, it's generally not advised for respiratory infections or people hard of breathing. A lot of the deaths in Italy had ibuprofen in their system post mortem. It's not hard science yet, but best to avoid it until we know more.

The suicides resulting from the 2020 recession will outpace American COVID-19 fatalities.

If you have never looked into it, look into the jump in suicides resulting from the 2008 crisis.

Over the weekend I have started to see a flood of posts stating variations of the following:

"If the fatalities due to COVID-19 end up not that severe please do not misunderstand this the entire situation being blown out of proportion, understand that coming together as a country is what stopped the virus."

They know what's coming and they know that northern Italy is not representative of the United States.

The average Italian is 10 years older than the average American.
The elderly are concentrated in northern Italy forming the highest concentration of elderly in all of Europe.
Italians smoke at a far higher rate than Americans.

By contrast South Korea is doing everything they can to test as many people as possible and as a result are one of the only places in the world with significant "infected yet not seriously sick" statistics. Astonishing to no one that actually cares about getting this right, norther Italy and South Korea are seeing night and day stats. If your "...news..." source talks about Italy the same way it talked about Russian collusion, its time to turn that sh!t off.

The current mortality rates are for those who had such severe symptoms that they got hospitalized, which is mostly seniors and people with fairly severe underlying conditions. So obviously the mortality rate would look bleak early on.

These numbers are not including the many more infected people who had symptoms mild enough to not warrant a hospital stay or even a test. Not to mention the lack of tests to begin with. This is why you see countries like SK, who have tested more, have lower mortality rates.

We will see cases explode but also mortality rates plummet. In reality, for relatively healthy people, this is probably only mildly more deadly than a bad flu

In early Jan. me, my wife, daughter, and most of her school got sick with flu symptoms. For all I know i already had it.

I'm betting that the death rate is much much much lower than thought. Most people who catch this are either going to not have symptoms or feel like crud for a couple days and then be fine so they're never tested and added to the official numbers.

My daughter is in the high risk class. She had the flu last week and we had her tested to make sure since she's in the high risk class. However during that week, myself, my wife, and my son all had a 2-3 day period where we had diarrhea, headaches, and back aches for my wife and I along with low energy and a scratchy throat. Based on what one poster wrote, we all three matched the symptoms but never got tested because we felt moderately cruddy for a couple days and are all better now.

Can any one of you geniuses saying it’s not a big deal, look at Italy and see what’s happened when the hospital system gets overrun.

Cuz no one cares about actually catching covid, we’re all worried about a hospitals being overwhelmed and there is a perfect example of how it will happen.
