Seems like as well certain races are genetically more pre-disposed to it (IMO it is way easier to explain it in terms of obesity rates rather than racial discrimination or maybe even SES). Myself am an Indian person and diabetes/hypertension affects us more than most other racial groups. Part of it is probably due to poor diet (indian food is carb heavy as chit) and isn't really a culture that emphasizes any physical feats, sports or exercise. But some of that genetics as well. Apparently that same study as well shown it may affect certain groups of people more at lower BMI.
ive also seen blood type a is at higher risk and blood type o is at lower which is interesting too. Iā€™d have to look into which race statistics for blood type a.

Maybe some of you have already seen this, but I came across this study on weight gain due to shelter-in-place policies
    https://jamanetwork.com/journals/jam...rticle/2777737
"These results translate into approximately 1.5 lb of weight gain every month", well they might have been lean gains then :P

I just watched a documentary called 'Completely Under Control'...

Very good breakdown of the pandemic and how it progressed, etc. Recommended.

Interesting, it seems to be discussing the various responses to the pandemic. Worth checking out, I just hope it's not very biased.

On a separate, but related, note, personally I had set gym traffic as a sign of when the pandemic would start waning (in the US at least). About 2 weeks ago I could not find a squat rack right away, for the first time after a very long time, which I take as a good sign.
Not that I've missed this 'oh dammit-crowded gym' feeling at all, but would gladly accept this sacrifice if it means getting back to normal

Yeah it's not an opinion movie or anything like that, a very basic documentary but it included a ton of history I didn't even know about at all.

Yeah I started going back to the gym after I moved into my new house because I need to fix my garage floor before I can safely put a squat rack out there.

It's actually been really fun going back!

I have a friend in Kalamazoo who is pretty sure he had COVID in February 2019.

    I have my doubts...

I know a lot of people who suspect similar things, but of course it's impossible to know for sure really.

Yes, I've also come across these studies, and the results are really interesting!

I was actually following some experts on twitter, who claimed these results make no sense to them at all. I guess it's like finding that the participants of the Minnesota starvation experiment gained 20lbs of muscle
What we do know for sure, though, as found by many other similar studies, is that COVID was circulating at very low levels since probably at least December 2019 in the US. So elimination strategies was doomed by the time we got alarmed in late February/early March.
It seems that the mechanisms of transmission depend greatly on seasonal factors, that are not yet well understood (similar to influenza and other coronaviruses). It's no coincidence that waves take off simultaneously at different areas of the globe, at different times for different latitudes etc. When a wave takes off, it follows a natural course of peaking and then waning over a month or so (and government mandates don't really do much)

Not my field of expertise, but fascinating stuff!

I downloaded and searched through the VAERS tables and... wow... some funny stuff in there:

    - 'penis disorder'
    - 'anger'

Not in the same person, but still... pretty funny stuff.

I appreciate that they're keeping these logs but, I have to say the system is loaded with issues when ANYONE can say anything they want.

LOL...What's also funny is that I read this as I am preparing for dose no2 tomorrow. I wish I had not seen that penis disorder thing :P

Last time I only had a sore arm, which forced me to do legs instead of upper the next day (probably the only guy ever that skipped Chest day)

Yes, and apparently if you use your vaccinated arm more, the pain/soreness goes away faster. I tried it this time and it's milder.
After dose 2 I woke up with a strange hangover feeling, but nothing too bad. Very manageable.

I always felt at least "about one-fourth convinced" that the virus came out of a lab, even after having read some articles that "disproved" that theory, while the "Chinese lab theory" was considered a conspiracy theory.

After all, some conspiracy theories ARE most definitely true.

I always had a palpable amount of feeling that it came from (or was leaked from) a lab, because of that doctor-and-whistle-blower who the Chinese made sure would not survive his own COVID-19 infection. When was that last year, January? The way they treated him, I always considered to be suspect.
