Gyms equipements are flying off the shelves over here. Even classifieds stuff are selling quickly.
Went on a hunt for gym equipment this weekend, and was not able to get Olympic gear.
Lined up at a fitness store, and got out with almost nothing lol
Have to do with a standard barbell for the upcoming weeks. Got a dip/pullup station for cheap which is nice.IG: @tuanlifts

Leverage Gym's are great too, high/low pulley and great for overloading after barbell work.
Need more leg work, got you covered with the belt squat
Used to be the same way with training at home, but once you hand select pieces that fit your style the commercial gym sucks.Last edited by urbanlifter; 03-23-2020 at 06:47 AM.

Thanks! For me that's the best part of owning a home gym, sure it's convenient but moreso the ability to buy specialized pieces of equipment. Commercial gym equipment is made to fit the largest variety of body types possible, which means for many people some of the machines will never quite feel right.

By the time people get their new home gyms set up, public gyms will reopen. Things are grim now, but it's not gonna be this way all year. Virus's have a sudden influx, hit a plateau and stay steady for a bit, then slow down and die off. I'd guess we're about to hit the plateau stage. We've already seen other countries get a hold on this i.e. the country of origin. The government at this point needs to start thinking about mitigating the hit on the economy, which means once things are under control, we're gonna be encouraged to go out and spend our money with businesses again. I bet things are under control by end of spring latest, and everything opens back up.
Edit: I'm not saying everything will be back to normal end of spring, no way no how. It's gonna take time for us to bounce back economically, and the negative impact is just starting. But gyms are going to reopen and the virus spread will be much more under control, that's my guess.
In the meantime, the dip/pullup station and barbell is all you need, for real.Last edited by BenBlue; 03-23-2020 at 08:37 AM.

The data is way too fresh for these numbers to mean anything beyond the here and now. All we can ascertain is that this needs to be taken seriously, as it's one of the worst pandemic's we've ever seen, and it's spreading at an alarming rate, to say the least. The growth rate will change dramatically over the coming weeks, for the better. Covid isn't what takes us out as a race.

I base it on how virus's work. If a virus doesn't have a victim to infect, it dies. Moreover, people build immunity. With the social distancing and quarantines we've seen, with the amount of people who have already been infected and recovered, we're gonna slow this thing down, sooner or later. I also base it off how countries like China, the place of origin mind you, have been getting a grasp on this. Thing's have slow'd down significantly in China with the measures they've taken.
It's fear mongering to say this thing will continue to grow exponentially, period. What I will say is my timeline may be (likely?) short and optimistic, that's yet to be seen, and the growth trend very well might continue for days/weeks or even months, especially with cases that we maybe haven't identified yet. But it's narrow sighted to think we won't get a grasp on this.Squat and Deadlift

The R0 of this virus is somewhere between 2 and 3. That results in exponential spread. We are nowhere near running out of people to infect at this time. It's only just getting going.

Please don't tell me you believe a damn thing the chinese communist party government tells you
Lies lies and more lies from them straight from the beginning. DO NOT BELIEVE ANYTHING FROM THEM
This will continue to grow exponentially in North American for the near future at least.
The growth trend in North American will continue for WAY longer than "days".
Nobody said or implied we won't get a grasp on this.

As for believing what we hear from China, I'm not gonna go down that rabbit's hole, but I hear you.
Days won't be the case, I agree with you there, I was hasty to say that. But I also think a lot of the information being fed to the North American public right now is irresponsible fear mongering. Yes, there's plenty of more people to infect, no question, but there will be a boiling point where things plateau and start to significantly decrease, and we've already started taking significant measures to slow the spread. We may see the decrease a lot sooner than you think. Time will tell.Squat and Deadlift

I could say the same thing about you dude. Sounds like you've been listening to nothing but the worst case scenario reporting. I get my info from multiple sources. I've seen both optimistic and pessimistic projections and stats.
We can agree that this is huge. We'll have to wait and see how quickly we get a hold on it. And no, I'm not gonna venture into the misc, who the **** get's their information from that cesspool?Squat and Deadlift
