How many reps of 225 can you bench?

It looks like the last thread asking this is over ten years old. Since this is one classic measure of strength endurance (such as the NFL uses), it would be interesting to put down a time stamp for the forum as we begin the new decade.

For me, it's 12. How many can you all do?
    Bench: 315
    Squat: 315
    Deadlift: 475

It’s been about a month since I’ve done any flat bench but somewhere around 10-12 as a top set

Not sure exactly. Last month I've done 225x8 a couple times, 230x8 once, and 225x7 for 5 sets once. All within a normal workout.

    I'd guess 225x10
    Current.................365 / getting / there.........185 lbs
    Pre-COVID..............335 / 295 / 499..............185 lbs
    July 1, 2019................9 week cut.................164 lbs
    Late April 2019.........285 / 275 / 440.............178 lbs

I could maybe do one rep, but i'd need the help of a chest press machine cause i'm just not worked up to that weight yet(got about 80lbs to go). Someday though, hope to get sets with it.

Some of these responses have been interesting to read. Makes me wonder if I'm lacking in the muscle endurance department.

I haven't tested my 225 rep max, but I start my workout with a set of 8. Thinking probably 10-12 would be my max. But my one rep max is currently 305. I see Millz said 13 reps of 225 with a 270 max in his signature. I generally bench in a pyramid style... 225 for 8, 245 for 6, 265 for 4, 275 for 3, 285 for 2, etc. etc. Maybe I should work in the higher rep range with lighter weight for a while.

It's just another variation, I don't do it regularly in my program.

Chains and bands increase the resistance at the top of the movement, which helps your lockout. Chains also swing a little bit, especially if you have big heavy chains, which forces you to stay in position in order to control the weight more.

I only do incline bench and the most I can do on that is 165 for 8 reps.

I can flat bench 220 on a Hammer Strength machine for 6 reps, so I'm guessing with a regular barbell it would be one rep at the most. Not sure how others are managing 10 reps or more. I guess I'm weak.

My max is 305 right now and I hit 225 for 10-12 depending on if I do incline first. I think you’re fine. Either that or we both have **** endurance

Haven't tested now that I'm at 195 but doing solid sets of 8-10 in the 200-215 range and form is way better.

Going to focus on Weighted chins also.

It's because no one ask this question anymore! I was benching 355 lbs for reps in my twenties, but after 32 years of training, I could care less what I bench now days.

355 was my wall and I snapped my shoulder trying to go past it, and after a few more injuries I'm lucky to still be lifting.

0 but I'm working on it. Goal right now is to just get 3x3. Had stalled around 190 lbs but am making good progress again and am solidly over 200 for 3x3. Might be able to grunt out one 225, but I don't need to risk snap city.

I started lifting again about two years ago and have dealt with shoulder impingement on and off that's limited my progress. Sucks to be old, but I'm not giving up.

This is true... My rep max is unusually high in comparison to my 1rm... Largely a result of my programming for the last 12 months. It used to be quite the opposite before I got on 531. I haven't tested a heavy bench 1rm in a few months which I have planned for next week so hopefully will see that number go up.. If only slightly since I'm going to be testing a pause bench rather than a touch and go like I do in the 225x13 set.

Going to be switching into some different programming to try and get my 1rms up after next week which I'm super excited for.

    Recent best lifts
    Bench - 225x13, 235x9, 250x5, 280x1
    Squat - 295x10, 340x5, 375x1
    Deadlift - 430x12, 450x9, 485x5, 515x1
    OHP - 150x11, 170x6, 185x2, 190x1
