No telling how many hospitalizations there may have already been in the last few months that went unnoticed as being COVID-19 related because absolutely NO ONE was worried or thinking about it in the slightest until ~3 weeks ago.

We're in the middle of flu season. Old people get pnemonia all the time. If you didn't have a direct link to the virus by travels or known contact, getting a test was impossible. How many cases have flown under the radar to be ignored until finally a test was carried out-and surprise, a positive confirmation. I've read more than enough of these cases to figure this isn't isolated. If you think this chit just started here right now, just lol. Have you seen a graph of how this stuff starts. Very slow at first until the exponential magic hits and it takes off. In addition there's a very long possible incubation time to contend with.

Who travels by the way? Young healthy people or frail old people? Could be that the first "wave" was largely untouched, and we are in the second or third wave currently. There's too many random cases of community spread case right now to assume anything other than the disease has been circulating a while.

I think this is a reality, but enforcing it could be hard. Lots of smaller cities only have 2-5 cops. A lot of this will rely on the citizens actually listening, which I have a lot of doubt in.

Has to be done though. If you lockdown, and at least 80% adhere to it, you will prevent that many instances of possible spread. I imagine there are going to be cities like Detroit, Newark or any high crime/poverty area can go to absolute chaos.

They're not going to let the local police do that on their own. New Rochelle already supplementing with National Guard to make sure it's actually enforced and to hose things down with disinfectant and make sure oldcels get food.

Myself and a few others hold this belief as well. We aren't suddenly getting 200+ new infections a day....we're just discovering the existing ones. With how fast blew up in Wuhan, it had to be circulating since late November/early December. That is roughly 1.5 months of travel in and out of there all over the globe without people taking the extra caution they are now.

They've identified patient zero. There were no Wuhan virus infections anywhere in the world prior to November 17th. There's a pretty good paper trail that it didn't arrive in the US until January 15th.
