Here's what gets me:

I'm just some dude in a loft and I have 12 rolls of toilet paper in my closet. OK, so maybe you have kids and go through a lot of toilet paper. That's cool. I get that.

Still, it's massively cheaper to buy in bulk, like by a factor of half, and ain't nobody got time to be stopping off at the store constantly for incremental purchases of necessities.

It's not like there's some big question about whether or not you're going to use the huge family-sized packs. It doesn't spoil. Say you're thirty years old, you've got a solid fifty years of pooping ahead of you. Nobody decides to give up pooping for Lent. Nobody goes to their doctor and the doctor says "your cholesterol's too high and I suggest you stop pooping immediately and for the rest of your life, sorry about all that toilet paper but you'll just have to throw it out".

What possible rationale could there be for not already keeping an adequate supply of toilet paper in your home at all times? Why in the world would everyone suddenly decide that circumstances have changed such that they need 90 rolls of toilet paper this very minute because they think they won't be able to go shopping for a month? You should have already had 60 of them in your damn house. Are people really just buying 4-packs every time they go grocery shopping?

I bought all my cleaning products in 8-packs on Amazon Subscribe & Save because it was notably cheaper than picking some up at the grocery store with the 15% discount.

Yes, I have a year's supply of cleaning products in the shelf next my washing machine, but who gives a fukk? I saved time and money and don't have to remember to buy more. Ever.

I just don't get it. If you see yourself doing the same thing every single week buying more toilet paper and it's non-perishable, why wouldn't you just get it over with if you have storage space and have TP4lyfe?

Maybe not in the UK, but then you guys have literally the smallest average domicile size in the first world last I checked. Storage space in the home is a lot bigger deal than it is to a lot of people in a lot of other areas.

Yes and for you not to catch this virus OTHER people have to also be hygienic not just YOU? So when you buy all the hand sanitizer and soap don't come crying to miscers when someone else passes it over who was unable to get these items. Works both ways lol.

Pittsburgh officials just announced an old couple has confirmed to have it. They got it during out of state travel. Then they downplayed everything the rest of conference saying its all good. PA is so much farther behind other states seems like.

Let me put it in perspective for all these people who think buying mass products is a "good" thing.

- You go out and buy a fk ton of hand sanitizer and soap.. The shop has non left which means the majority of people will miss out.
- Those people might not be able to get any therefore will have dirty/unclean hands only being able to use warm water.
- You come in contact with someone who has been unable to get soap and they give you the virus.

Just because YOU'RE clean doesn't mean you're immune.. The more people who miss out the more chance overall that they will get it and pass it on. The more people who're hygienic the better.

Problems is that they had around 1.5 million Romanian/Moldovan foreigners working in Northern Italy who headed home after the first quarantines were introduced. Same goes for the ones from Southern Italy/Sicily who were also working there.

It’s a complicated situation but suffice to say doing that and just calling out on principle would be virtually the same. Solid advice overall though. Also if I do not go, a coworker will take my place, which in unfair to them, and I am better equipped.

Here in Bowling Green, we had 4 people helping with the Nashville tornado aftermath. All 4 of them have become really sick with severe flu/pneumonia like symptons. Two of them went to the ER thursday saying their symptoms matched corona based on the cdc website. They were asked if they had insurance, said no, & were told to go home and quarantine themselves.

They weren't even tested.

I would certainly prefer my leader to tell me that I am a soldier and that I am going to be shot at rather than letting it come as a surprise when I get there after weeks of telling me how the enemy will go away soon and they've got it handled, yes.

...because that's roughly where we are, right now. If this were a war, the military would be trying to get the locations of bomb shelters and information about how you can help the war effort at home out to the people through the media, and nobody would be listening because of all the idiots complaining that "teh liberul media is just tryna make us panic so prezident look bad, war going gud we don't need to do stuff".

Some of these people are going to die not knowing why. Call me an elitist if you like, but I'm embarrassed that the party I've backed my entire adult life took to catering to this dumber-than-chit scum just to win an election. Populism is not compatible with anything that even vaguely resembles conservatism. They should have left Peronism to the Argentines. It doesn't work. It isn't working. Trump hasn't told the truth for 2 reasons:

1) Like you said, you drop the bombshell on people and they will panic. The panic button should have been pressed 2 weeks ago if people didn't live in a bubble and think they were invincible.
2) Trump has strong, strong interest in making the sure the economy isn't in the gutter because it is re-election year.

Note how France just ordered all non-essential public places to close. Note how Italy & Spain close down their country. Note that domestically, we've shut down all major sports leagues (with the exception of the UFC, who will get hammered in the press once a fighter tests positive for coronavirus). You don't just do that for ****s & giggles.

So instead of awaring the public, stomping out the virus early and causing a temporary panic, you'd rather keep the truth hidden while the disease rapidly spreads, potentially kill millions, overwhelm healthcare and financial systems, and create a prolonged panic?

The longer this goes on, the more panic it creates. How do you not realize that? This should have been handled EARLY.
