Purifying Water During an Emergency
The treatments described below work only to remove bacteria or viruses from water. If you suspect the water is unsafe because of chemicals, oils, poisonous substances, sewage or other contaminants, do not drink the water. Don't drink water that is dark colored, has an odor or contains solid materials.
Storing water safely
The best source of drinking water during an emergency is water you have stored with your emergency supplies.
Store one gallon of water per person per day--enough for at least three days.
Store-bought, factory-sealed bottled water is best. Check for an expiration date and replace as needed.
If you choose to fill your own water containers:
Collect the water from a safe supply.
Store water in thoroughly washed plastic containers such as soft drink bottles. You can also purchase food-grade plastic buckets or drums.
Seal water containers tightly, label with date, and store in a cool, dark place.
Replace water every six months.
Never reuse a container that held toxic substances such as pesticides, chemicals or oil.
Purifying by boiling
If your tap water is unsafe, boiling is the best method to kill disease-causing organisms.
If tap water is unavailable, the following may be considered as potential water sources. Water taken from these sources should be boiled before drinking.
Rainwater
Lakes
Rivers and streams
Natural springs
Ponds
Caution: Many chemical pollutants will not be removed by boiling.
Cloudy water should be filtered before boiling. Filter cloudy water using coffee filters, paper towels, cheesecloth or a cotton plug in a funnel.
Bring the water to a rolling boil for at least one full minute.
Let the water cool before drinking.
Add two drops of household bleach per gallon to maintain water quality while in storage.
Purifying by adding liquid chlorine bleach
Treat water by adding liquid household bleach, such as Clorox or Purex.
Household bleach is typically between 5.25 percent and 8.25 percent chlorine. Read the label.
Avoid using bleaches that contain perfumes, dyes and other additives. Be sure to read the label.
Cloudy water should be filtered before adding bleach.
Place the water in a clean container. Add the amount of bleach according to the table below.
Mix thoroughly and let stand for at least 60 minutes before drinking.
Treating water with household bleach containing 5.25-8.25 percent chlorine
Volume of Water to be Treated Bleach Solution to Add
1 quart/1 liter - 5 drops
1/2 gallon/2 quarts/2 liters - 10 drops
1 gallon - 1/4 teaspoon
5 gallons - 1 teaspoon
10 gallons - 2 teaspoons
Caution: Bleach will not kill some disease-causing organisms commonly found in surface water. Bleach will not remove chemical pollutants.▪█─────█▪ Equipment Crew #53 ▪█─────█▪

In addition, here is a specific CDC statement that their primary public policy concern is to buy time, dated a week ago:
https://www.cdc.gov/mmwr/volumes/69/wr/mm6908e1.htm
Although these measures might not prevent widespread transmission of the virus in the United States, they are being implemented to 1) slow the spread of illness; 2) provide time to better prepare state and local health departments, health care systems, businesses, educational organizations, and the general public in the event that widespread transmission occurs; and 3) better characterize COVID-19 to guide public health recommendations and the development and deployment of medical countermeasures, including diagnostics, therapeutics, and vaccines.Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

I honestly would not drink water with bleach added to it. I see that the govt seems to recommend it, but if you f*ck up the ratio you add you could have dire consequences for your entire GI tract.

A large dose when you are sick is more or less useless, but hibitual usage over time of both vitamin c and d help boost your immune system.

Honestly, the virus is just a good reminder to be taking care of yourself. Eat well, sleep well, suppliment and your immune system will be strong. Wash your hands and have good hygiene, we should all be doing this regardless of an outbreak.
Ps. how u feelin brah? U said u were having some scratchy throat issues.Last edited by TheHaws; 03-05-2020 at 09:10 AM.

Oh dear I have a scratchy throat and am coughing a bit, having to clear my throat...Am I gonna make it? Yes, it's just allergies. I get that this is something to be concerned about and to be vigilant about but Jesus Christ the media is making this out to be a much bigger issue than it is. Is it something to make yourself aware of and take precautionary protocols? Yes.....Should you stock up on toilet paper and canned goods/jugs of water to last 3 months? No.

LOL...so according to all the CT nuts BB.com is trying to suppress the 200% death rate of the virus? Yes 200%, the virus is so lethal it brings you back to life and kills you again.

Vitamin C is fine, I take it everyday, but don't rely on it to help you with colds/bacteria/viral infections. Study after study has shown it has no positive benefits, other than possibly decreasing the length of the cold.

I’ve had a cold pretty much all week, but no fever and it hasn’t been bad. Thanks brah.
Then why list it under things that don’t help like it’s definitively useless? Don’t think anyone would be taking vitamin c thinking it’s a cure but as a supplement to help with cold/flu symptoms.watchout your comments boyo ↓

03-05-2020, 09:28 AM #113'This is not a drill'
Dr Tedros warned countries that "this is not a time for excuses"
In today's coronavirus briefing, World Health Organization head Dr Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus said countries needed to take an "all-government approach" to the virus, and not leave the response to their health ministries.
"This epidemic can be pushed back but only with a collective, co-ordinated and comprehensive approach that engages the entire machinery of government," he said.
"We're calling on every country to act with speed, scale and clear-minded determination."
He warned that countries needed to take the outbreak seriously, adding: "This is not a drill. This is not the time to give up. This is not a time for excuses. This is the time for pulling out all the stops.
"Countries have been planning for scenarios like this for decades. Now is the time to act on those plans."
Wonder what he's getting at... hinting towards the fact we do need to take proactive actions, since there is vaccine nor cure (and just accepting world economies are gonna keep getting hit - but take it now and not postpone it)?

How much does a coronavirus test cost? Fact check of COVID-19 medical bills finds that online rumor of a $3,000 charge is false: https://www.usatoday.com/story/news/...ls/4949078002/
So the state is paying for tests, not patients. No excuse not to get tested if you get sick boyos.6'3 Master Race

Anyway, this is a good compendium of what we know about COVID-19 and the viruses that cause it, collectively the SARS-CoV-2 family. It's geared more towards medical folk though:

This was hidden in the other thread but is worth repeating.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_Robb_(pathologist)
James A. Robb is an American pathologist and molecular virologist.
He has a BA in theoretical physics from the University of Colorado. In 1965 he entered the University of Colorado Medical School where he received his MD degree. He took a residency in pathology, as well as training in molecular biology, at Yale University, then went to work at the National Institutes of Health. He has been a professor at the University of California, San Diego,[1] a consulting pathologist at the National Cancer Institute, and director of anatomic and molecular pathology at Cedars Medical Center in Miami, Florida.[2] He is board certified in anatomic pathology, clinical pathology, cytopathology, and dermatopathology.[3]
During the 1970s while he was at UC-San Diego, Robb published some of the earliest descriptions of coronaviruses.[4] He co-wrote the chapter on coronaviruses in the book Comprehensive Virology[5] and has published extensively on the subject.[6][7] In February 2020 he wrote a "Dear colleagues" letter detailing his advice on how to avoid contracting COVID-19 and similar diseases; on March 2 several sources posted the letter online and it went viral.[4]
James Robb, MD FCAP
Dear Family and Friends, as some of you may recall, when I was a professor of pathology at the University of California San Diego, I was one of the first molecular virologists in the world to work on coronaviruses (the 1970s). I was the first to demonstrate the number of genes the virus contained. Since then, I have kept up with the coronavirus field and its multiple clinical transfers into the human population (e.g., SARS, MERS), from different animal sources.
The current projections for its expansion in the US are only probable, due to continued insufficient worldwide data, but it is most likely to be widespread by mid to late March and April.
Here is what I have done and the precautions that I take and will take. These are the same precautions I currently use during our influenza seasons, except for the mask and gloves.:
1) NO HANDSHAKING! Use a fist bump, slight bow, elbow bump, etc.
2) Use ONLY your knuckle to touch light switches. elevator buttons, etc.. Lift the gasoline dispenser with a paper towel or use a disposable glove.
3) Open doors with your closed fist or hip - do not grasp the handle with your hand, unless there is no other way to open the door. Especially important on bathroom and post office/commercial doors.
4) Use disinfectant wipes at the stores when they are available, including wiping the handle and child seat in grocery carts.
5) Wash your hands with soap for 10-20 seconds and/or use a greater than 60% alcohol-based hand sanitizer whenever you return home from ANY activity that involves locations where other people have been.
6) Keep a bottle of sanitizer available at each of your home's entrances. AND in your car for use after getting gas or touching other contaminated objects when you can't immediately wash your hands.
7) If possible, cough or sneeze into a disposable tissue and discard. Use your elbow only if you have to. The clothing on your elbow will contain infectious virus that can be passed on for up to a week or more!
What I have stocked in preparation for the pandemic spread to the US:
1) Latex or nitrile latex disposable gloves for use when going shopping, using the gasoline pump, and all other outside activity when you come in contact with contaminated areas.
Note: This virus is spread in large droplets by coughing and sneezing. This means that the air will not infect you! BUT all the surfaces where these droplets land are infectious for about a week on average - everything that is associated with infected people will be contaminated and potentially infectious. The virus is on surfaces and you will not be infected unless your unprotected face is directly coughed or sneezed upon. This virus only has cell receptors for lung cells (it only infects your lungs). The only way for the virus to infect you is through your nose or mouth via your hands or an infected cough or sneeze onto or into your nose or mouth.
2) Stock up now with disposable surgical masks and use them to prevent you from touching your nose and/or mouth (We touch our nose/mouth 90X/day without knowing it!). This is the only way this virus can infect you - it is lung-specific. The mask will not prevent the virus in a direct sneeze from getting into your nose or mouth - it is only to keep you from touching your nose or mouth.
3) Stock up now with hand sanitizers and latex/nitrile gloves (get the appropriate sizes for your family). The hand sanitizers must be alcohol-based and greater than 60% alcohol to be effective.
4) Stock up now with zinc lozenges. These lozenges have been proven to be effective in blocking coronavirus (and most other viruses) from multiplying in your throat and nasopharynx. Use as directed several times each day when you begin to feel ANY "cold-like" symptoms beginning. It is best to lie down and let the lozenge dissolve in the back of your throat and nasopharynx.
Cold-Eeze lozenges is one brand available, but there are other brands available.
I, as many others do, hope that this pandemic will be reasonably contained, BUT I personally do not think it will be. Humans have never seen this snake-associated virus before and have no internal defense against it. Tremendous worldwide efforts are being made to understand the molecular and clinical virology of this virus. Unbelievable molecular knowledge about the genomics, structure, and virulence of this virus has already been achieved. BUT, there will be NO drugs or vaccines available this year to protect us or limit the infection within us. Only symptomatic support is available.
I hope these personal thoughts will be helpful during this potentially catastrophic pandemic. Good luck to all of us.

Pogue, I’m curious, what qualifications do you have to determine the validity of scientific data that is posted here. How are you able to determine what is true? What says you can selectively censor material, besides your moderator status?

There is sources that are more credible than others, that's for sure.
Are they always 100% correct? Perhaps not, but you know that there is at least some fact checking before articles are being published on this matter (*). Like the 5G-theory that was posted in the other thread was from a source that you could call dodgy at best (fyi: there is no 5G in EU).
(*) I know the media coverage about US politics this is different a lot of times - so I'm not talking about that
