Figure there's 500k, plus 200k reservists. I assume a large number of veterans and retired police/firefighters would volunteer to be mobilized in a crunch, too. New York is already calling up retired nurses and doctors.
I also doubt they'd let most patrol their own hometowns. Invites too many cases of letting Tommy open his hardware store for a few hours because he went to high school with the sergeant.Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

If this thing is mostly contained in China, a place that has a way bigger population and chittier conditions, why is it going to be so bad here?

Yeah, but in all seriousness, if you have some specialty food that you like, you should probably go buy it. I'm guessing they'll make sure there's rice and bread and milk, but things like chorizo might end up hit and miss if they start shutting down factories.
I'm looking at my stash of Aero bars and know it ain't gonna cut it.
I mean, you understand what China had to do to stop it, right?Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Trump made the statement from the oval office about payroll loans for small businesses, but he has not declarated a disaster yet, so the SBA cannot give out any loans for payroll.
I checked in NY and Washington (heavily hit areas) and they are also not declared a disaster yet.
This is from my business email. I have substantial payroll.
When the declaration is made (supposed to happen today), this is the process for applying. https://disasterloan.sba.gov/ela/Doc...ster_Loans.pdf

1) China has a way different culture than the US (collectivism over individualism)
2) China put their entire country on lockdown.
Just read this thread alone and you'll get an idea of what would to happen if you were to propose a lockdown in the US.. people would still go out for something they "need" (they don't). And most people are selfish, so as long as this virus doesn't effect them or anyone they know, they will live their lives in such a way that nothing is wrong.
Of course, when it hits them personally, they'll go spam Instagram with the desire to social distance and what not (of course ignoring the nights before where they were out partying or doing god knows what else) to gather social sympathy and likes.Last edited by XFactor416; 03-13-2020 at 11:08 AM.

I just imagine china as a massively overpopulated zone that couldn't entirely quarantine even if they desperately wanted to. Also in times of panic , which i'm sure occured in China, i feel like alot of the collectivism goes out the window and people do whatever the fuk they want.

China can quickly corral their people. Government influence is strong as **** and they also used the military to bar people in their homes.
The mere thought of quarantining the US without strong military intervention OR significant fines (like what they have in Italy now) isn't gonna happen. People have zero self-discipline and will not learn unless this thing hits them personally in some fashion.
You don't have to resort to massive quarantine, but you HAVE to test rigorously ala South Korea (+ SK has a culture of mask wearing) and the US isn't doing either. What you see in Italy right now is what's going to happen to the US and it's gonna happen FAST (give it one week maximum if they actually test people for real).Last edited by XFactor416; 03-13-2020 at 11:28 AM.

Much of China is rural.
They can quarantine because they aren't selfish douchebag pricks AND they have a literal communist regime governing them that will do whatever they want including "weld the doors shut" quarantine measures for cities and "nope you aren't traveling turn around"

Finally a country fatter than the US. Everything's gonna be alright
YEah it's going to be at least 2 weeks because our current best estimates at timetable say that even if it's flatlining a week from now, that doesn't mean it isn't about to spike

The issue is that no matter how "capable" we are, the economic disruption is going to be severe.
I'm 200 miles from New Rochelle and non-perishable groceries are already getting difficult. I have no idea what's going to happen if they start closing highways and shutting down manufacturing operations relevant to that supply chain.
At the extreme end, Chinese chicken farmers couldn't get chicken feed, so had to slaughter their flocks, so flooded the market with chicken, which crashed the price of chicken and destroyed the chicken farmers. Chit like that. It's not like it's NBD to start turning out the lights on entire markets and sectors of the economy.Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

I am expecting Trump to announce closure of US border to everyone.
Other countries in Europe are doing it.
There is nothing that can stop this unless there is full lock down like China did in Wuhan.
^^^
yikes expect the cases in US to jump over 10,000 easily over the weekend

Dude there’s a very large bar 20 mins from me STILL promoting their St. Patty’s day party.
Their total capacity has to be close to 250 or more.
They keep posting pics of Jameson on Instagram with the caption, “Immune boosters!!!”

I live Pittsburgh. Theyve only tested people that traveled to foreign countries or people that were known to have actually came in contract with a positive person. So those numbers are not even close to accurate. Allegheny county says 0. Well of course its zero if you dont test anyone.
Edit: PA just closed all schools K-12 for 2 weeks starting monday.Last edited by Brandon556211; 03-13-2020 at 12:11 PM.
