It's not. There are still hardly any tests and unless you are rich, famous, politician, you probably need to be "immediately admitted to hospital even in these conditions" level of sick to get a test
Ignore trump and his feel good "tremoundous amount of tests" and his calm everybody down "we'll have a website up Sunday night [6 days ago] you can go to to schedule a drive up at Walmart" that's just to placate people, it's not reality
Listen to the medical experts. Don't listen to any politician, don't listen to people on here, don't listen to me, listen to Dr Fauci, to the World Health Organization, to Dr Birx. Look at CDC but keep in mind they are semi political and have been ****ing up. And for the love of God don't listen to the mainstream media or rumors
And look at what people DO. Look at what is actually happening (with proof) and what people are doing. Not what they are saying

Looking at the stats from Worldometer again. Death rate from closed cases only rose another 1% up to 11% now. So that has risen over the last week from 7%. From the open cases, serious/critical cases seems to be fluctuating a lot over the past 24 hours between 4 and 5%. I'm assuming it will continue to heavily fluctuate as more and more people test positive.

Anyone with stocks is pretty pooched currently, my girlfriends' RRSP is down something like 30%. But that's temporary and hopefully within a year or two will be back. Anyone investing should be thinking long term anyway.
As for unemployed, yes we have tons not working right now. But again, our government stepped up and is making sure people can at least get something to pay bills. The hardest thing we are going to have to deal with in a couple of weeks is that all schools will be closed and people are going to still have to work, especially health care workers. They are trying to set up daycares for their kids now and our education Minister announced online learning will be going live next week.

would u guys pull out investments even with a huge loss? can't decide. I already pulled out my other investments with major losses, because I plan to use it on downpayment next year. but I got one US index which only went down 3k from 20k. seems to have done way better than my other investments. that's why i didn't pull it yet.
i know a nurse at a major hospital here... last night she sent everyone a video of her saying that everyone in the hospital is not documented for because the people that document the numbers cant keep up. and yeah she said that there's way too many people in CCU critical care unit. there's no more room in CCU. if that's the case, multiple that by the other hospitals in canada... and so i don't think we could say we're doing well yet. we'll see in a month or another week. i definitely don't think our numbers on the internet are remotely accurate.Last edited by 2RDEYE; 03-21-2020 at 09:03 AM.

Why would you pull out right now if you can afford to keep it in? We’re guaranteed to see a rebound in the market. Sooner this thing is over the more likely we’re going to see complete recovery. If you have savings and/or guaranteed income then this is the time to invest.
Horny.

just thinking about my place next year. if this economy crash doesn't recover in a year, then i wont be able to put a downpayment on the place i've been saving years for. waited 10 years for this condo, stayed in this building just for it. and if they're continuing with the plans then construction will start early 2021 as well as pre-buying. they're demolishing my current home in december if things are continuing, most likely not, but still could.

This is the only answer. Make sure you have a cash cushion, but if you've got a job and are safe, this is the #1 opportunity in your lifetime. I'm upped my 401k contribution and am taking the money I'm saving from not dining out and drinking with friends and pushing it into my Roth IRA early this year.
Nah, fukk that. I’m not doing that.

Just bought some stock yesterday. I feel like they are low enough now, at least short term. I still think 10k DOW is much more likely at this point than 30k.

talked to two italians on a mobile app last night. people in italy. and they both said this, i didn't even ask. they said something like this
"our government lied to us about masks too, wear them, use them, everyone is told to use our masks now, and we are finally wearing them because they provide a physical obstruction to prevent exposure"
they both said their government lied to them about masks. i was just asking what the situation is like over thereThere is only one Hell: the one we live in now.

So far only old people are dying. The average age of the people dying in Italy is like 75. Yes this is because they aren't getting treatment, but I doubt that we will see a lot of healthy people under 45 dying from this.

Until there is something better, Plaquenil (HXQ) will be used like water in COVID-19 patients who need it. This is literally what I do in pharma. A drug does NOT have to be FDA approved for a SPECIFIC indication in order to be used for that indication; especially if there was already a sufficient therapeutic window (sufficient efficacy and safety) established in another indication. For example plaquenil - Who the fck is gonna invest ~$40mil to do a Phase 3 just to show that some cheap-ass $30/month generic sorta works? Methotrexate is not FDA approved in psoriatic arthritis yet it is the #1 prescribed systemic medication for psoriatic arthritis. Rituximab is not FDA approved for systemic lupus yet it is the #1 prescribed biologic for systemic lupus. Off-label use in medicine is rampant - there are literally 1000s of similar examples.
Gilead's remdesivir is a different story because it is not FDA-approved for anything and is being utilized in COVID via the compassionate use loophole...so it is still available for patients that need it.Always in on join date threads crew
