    This has been unexpectedly taxing. I ache like a sum bish, went to bed at 9:45PM one night like a glorified old person, and there has been no ice cream to soothe my pain.

    On Sept. 2 I bought my 1st cell phone (serious) and when I figure out how to use it there will be more vids and pics in here.

    I'm not expecting much loss on the scale this week if any, my body is determined to be stuck in the re-comping phase and I'm okay with that for now. When it's done being stuck it will cooperate more with the weight loss. Been here, done that, and that's just the way it works for me whether I like it or not.

    Killer work in here. That GVT is brutal man. Those HS presses, is that weight per side? Impressive either way, just thought damn that's a lot of plates.

    I hear you on the water retention, I unfortunately haven't been doing enough leg work to warrant anything resembling real muscle damage that would cause it.

    My go to on WAW was the MP40, extended mag with a silencer. Deadly combo. However that PPSH with the extended mag sure is fun in a room full of soon to be dead people.

    Good luck with the cell phone. They pretty much do everything now.

    The HS chest press is the total weight, the HS shoulder press is weight per side.

    As per Dr. Norton, adding water is the best way of getting rid of water retention and it worked in my preps and I have it under control now since drinking more water. When I start taking creatine again it will become even better.

    My weapon and perk load outs for WaW were meant to play the game mode "War" but there's not enough people online for that mode now. Not really used to "death match" games (only mode with people online now) but when I did I also rolled out with an MP40, silencer, and double clip. The PPSH has a 100 round mag on its own so I used an aiming device to shoot better from the hip (can't remember the name of it).

    I'm on a mission today to connect the phone to my Wi Fi and try to remember my own password.
    I love games and computers, hate cell phones with a passion.

    Way back when I read in a magazine that the Hungarians had their own training system. This comprised lifting the same body part 2 days in a row, the 1st being the "real" work out, the 2nd to get blood pumping back into the muscle group to facilitate healing.

    Now, in 2020, I cannot even find this on Google. So, I might be completely full of sh*t, my memory isn't working correctly, or there might be some merit to this.
    I don't think too highly of dip dunks in lab coats telling me what can and cannot be accomplished in the gym so I went and did it for myself to find out.

    My entire upper body is sore so let's go "facilitate some healing" on that...

    Weigh in;
    I have lost NOTHING this week, 0, nada, nichts, niente, ZERO.
    I have already sworn multiple times at myself and the situation. I'm just going to accept this as more re-comping. Fact is I'm training consistently, doing cardio consistently, and eating 10x better than what I was during quarantine. GVT is designed for muscle growth and my body is bouncing back from the gym being closed and from training inconsistently before that.
    I feel better, notice improvements in the mirror, and at the end of the day I am an older bodybuilder not a young twerp trying to be as shredded as possible without having any muscle.
    Imo this week the muscle gain countered the fat loss and I ended up with a net gain of 0 on the scale, which is only but one measurement to consider on this journey.
    I'm okay with this, for this week.

    On COD I was always pretty much a TDM or Domination player. So I was usually always set up for stealth of some sort. Unless I got bored then I would rush with shotguns or akimbo something.

    How did the back to back days feel?

    I picked up Weider's Ultimate Bodybuilding book. It is blue and available on Amazon. Reading it part by part as I have time. I also found a 10 part youtube series that I have been watching. Lots of old BBers in them.

    Good luck with the cellphone. They can be a great tool but can also become a huge time suck.

    I played the mode "War" and specialized in taking cap points. Used lots of smoke, the suppressor, and drop a frag perk after death. Back then, that mode was the fastest way to gain xp. I'm currently maxed on both prestige and levels.

    I think the back to back days are a good theory but still not sure how effective it is/was. Requires me to do it more to find out.

    I found the series and am listening to it as I type. Back in the day those tapes cost beaucoup bucks and now its free, in some ways we have progressed. IMO knowledge should be free.

    I wanted the cell for bb'ing purposes and branch off to social media. I'm gonna try and not to be glued to my phone like many in society.

    De-loading when doing GVT required some adjustments as it was too easy. I bumped the reps up from 10 to 20 per set and that enabled me to both take a rest and crank out almost as much volume as non-de-loading sessions.

    2 teenage males joined my gym the previous day, brothers. Today I saw them on the gym floor and COVID rules were not being followed AND regular gym etiquette was not followed. Instead of putting their books and lunches in the lockers they left it on the benches used to sit. I could also tell they were new to Canada. 1 even started eating in the freaking bathroom and that is when I lost my sh*t.
    But I was unexpectedly nice. They listened as I went over the rules and made suggestions. They even said "Yes, sir!". There is hope for the future yet.

    Today if I meet them, I'm going to offer my "advices" (yes Franco Columbo) on training and gym etiquette.
    I will offer to teach them all they need to know about the gym and lifting. I'm just going to offer and won't be butthurt if they decline, life is full of choices.

    Why?
    -to pay it forward
    -to invest in the future
    -I like helping people
    -teens can be amazing if taught right
    -and I worked with teens for 20+ years professionally and miss working with an age group that wants to learn to be better

    and maybe they'll teach an old man how to use his new cell phone. lmao

    I was starting to feel like a pussy lifting light weights when there's more gym wankers than ever AND I knew I needed to de-load.
    The solution;
    I halved the reps and sets for the PD's and still repped the stack.

    The 2 youngins were nice as pie and I invited them to ask me gym questions any time.

    I'm going to incorporate GVT into leg days and need to start somewhere while I'm de-loading. The goal is to gradually increase the weight so I'm doing 10x10's with 1,080 in plates on the leg press. When I get there, that's a 100k minimum per training session and it will only take me 10 of those to reach a million. I'm just gonna go hard core hypertrophy training as I consider that a long-term investment in fat loss.

    Yeah the war was a fun game mode. I seem to remember there being a lot more people per game but maybe that was later titles that allowed so many people more per game. I know it was almost like instant death the couple times I played it with all the added people running around.

    That is a fun story about the kids. Good to hear they were respectful, as you said, all is not lost and people are still generally good. Sounds like a great idea and a fair trade you could work out with the phone for training knowledge.

    Those videos are pretty good. Kind of cheesy at times but their is some good stuff in there for sure.

    Solid work on your deload sessions.

    Elliptical are good for doing HIIT as well.

    I think war was 20 vs. 20, but you're right it allowed more people on the map. Sheer chaos.

    Although the 2 youngin's have not sought my council they are lifting and behaving themselves. They actually could use my lifting advices as their form is terrible.

    Lol, yes they are cheesy but it was the zeitgeist of the times. Spandex, bleach bonds, and lunk heads who could barely speak BUT back then that was one of the few ways to even see or hear a pro 'cuz no internet and only magazines. For information they are iffy, but for the fans back then it was gold.

    De-loads mess with my head, hurts my pride to lift like a puss but lifting like a puss 1 week out of 4 is the smart thing to do.

    I'm leaving HIIT for contest time hopefully fall of 2021. I will need it then to bust through plateaus.

    After de-load week running GVT.
    I actually had a training plan this week. My last week of GVT had all my weights increase, this week I did something I call "solidifying my gains". I planned on using the same weights but with more focus on form and feel. I believe (with no scientific evidence) that this will give the body a chance to adapt to those increases before I put on more demands of adaptation on my system.
    To take care of the strength portion of the training I focussed on increasing my reps on my post GVT Widow Maker sets, plus I have a liftin' heavy gym rep to uphold.

    I am well aware strongest in my gym does not mean the strongest anywhere and there are many way stronger than I ever will be.

    My mind was ready to train, my body sure wasn't. My warm up set reminded me I'm not 25 anymore. Everything just f'in ached. I both praised my wisdom and chastised my pussyness while I went to the Elliptical.

    No weight loss, no weight gain the last 2 weeks.
    So it looks like I have a choice here, crack the whip more or continue as is in the belief that things settle and the scale moves down within 2 weeks. I see less fat every week, but the scale isn't moving. I can't honestly tell you if the fat loss equals the muscle loss but considering many factors such as recent increased consistency, gym re-opening and "muscle memory", hypertrophy focused training, TRT, genetics, and consistent strength gains I think it's probable.
    I always rushed into things.
    This time I told myself I wasn't going to rush, that I was going to take it slow and make those changes permanent.
    I was only going to up the intensity in either the cardio, macros, or training as required to see progress. I want to save the crazy stuff for last, when it's time to do another bb'ing show. If I do the crazy stuff too early, I have nothing to plateau bust with for a competition.

    Odds n' Ends

    -The weight went up again and then it started to drop a little (as in very little) the last few weeks. I gave myself a month to be okay with this before making changes considering a variety of factors.
    -Weigh in today I was -1.5 lbs.. However, there has been a considerable gain previous (too embarrassed to admit figures right now) and I'm going to categorize it as "acceptable".
    -Started taking Apple Cider Vinegar in pill form to combat side effects of my meds and for overall improved health. A supplement for my health, not bodybuilding per se.
    -For motivational and entertainment purposes I have dubbed myself "Strongest Mother Phukker in the Gym" as per my conversation with gym staff. I intend on proving it to be fact every time I step in my iron sanctuary.
    -I'm figuring out my cell phone, pics, videos and such. That will make things a more visual in here and I will take requests for vids/pics of the oddball exercises I do. However, my gym has rules on taking pics/vids and if I can use my camera without getting caught, I will.
    -As will come out with the pics, I'm f'ing fat. I'm the fat strong old dude in the gym. I never claimed to be anything else neither. This is also a journal about my transformation and it has to start somewhere. I need to suck up a lot of pain, discomfort, and I need a lot of time to find out what I have under this layer of sh*t (fat). Right now, I'm a "has been" looking for redemption. One of the few things that gives me solace as I take this on is that I have successfully went from being obese to a competing natty bb'er before and that means I can do it again.

    Good looking lifting session going on and training talk in here. As far as weight loss goes, the scale only tells a portion of the story. I still remember that lesson from way back when I first got back in the gym and I didn't lose a pound for a solid month.

    Out of curiosity I actually had my total test checked a couple weeks back. I could definitely stand to go on some TRT as well but from what I have read it's a big decision. I think low T on my results could also have to do with long term dieting. Regardless, I plan to talk to my Drs and see what they think.

    You are definitely a big strong dude. Looking forward to following along for your transformation.

    I accept all responsibility for my lack of progress in the fat loss department. Fact is I was eating too much, got caught up in that mental state of "I'm getting hyooge" as I saw the strength climb and the muscle come back. Layne would've e-bitched slapped me if we were working together.

    TRT is a big decision and one to be made with your spouse (I don't have one). Its supposed to be permanent and over time will make you infertile or less fertile. However, in my experience...basically I lived all my life depressed and anxious until I hit the right dose in my late 30's. 1st thing I noticed was change in my brain, thinking, and mood as they all improved within 2 days. I take a cream every day, not shots 'cuz I hate needles and the shots give you high and low points and I need stability.
    IMO I did not experience "gainz" like one would from a cycle, more like everything started to fall into place and I just felt better overall physically. I had no big strength increases nor muscle gain ever.
    The biggest thing I ever noticed is how fast I got my beef back after the gym opened up again this year. It came back alarmingly fast and is still doing so. Alarming because I'm not used to the scale going up after literally every training session. Just want to give you my $.02 worth so you can make an informed decision.
    Also, if you decide to go on and then quit after a few months, not a good idea cold turkey...messed with my head lots, I'm lucky to still be here tbh.
