My injuries from the past ache and my bicep tendons are vehemently protesting yesterdays session. Despite waking up with a lot of piss and vinegar to hit the gym I knew it was time for a day off.
So in my old journalling days I had a tradition influenced by forum member "kimsquit". He posted pics of big boobs on chest day and I posted pics of hawt women's butts on days off.
Pepper your angus folks, this journal is about to go NSFW-not suitable for work.
I can think of no better celebrity to showcase upon return of this tradition than J-Lo herself;
Have a BOOTY ful day!

The problem;
Birthday squats are in 2 days where I must hit 405 for at least a single. I am not entirely confident regardless of me hitting it last week. This is chipping away at my mental armor and I cannot have room for doubt in 2 days. I must reassure myself of my ability by squatting 405 today AND I must not be too sore from today to hit it again in 2 days.
The solution;
Squats
10x135
6x225
2x315
-I left a lot in reserve every set
2x405
1x405x3

I started birthday squatting 405 at the age of 21. It was going to be in my young mind at the time "my middle finger to Father Time".
For the 26th YEAR in a row I put 405 back on the rack and said "F*ck you. You ain't got sh*t on me."
This was not a workout.
This was a statement.

Happy Belated birthday. Sorry I missed it yesterday, but good to see you hit your 405 single and a couple extra for good measure. That is a cool challenge and a hell of a streak at 26 straight years.
I see you didn't leave without thoroughly thrashing your legs. Killer legs session. 12PPS is fawking strong LPs and I am pretty sure loading and unloading the LP counts for cardio with that many plates.
Your mom sounds wise. LoL.
Hopefully the rest of your birthday included some kind of cake.

Thank-you. I could not leave the gym until my legs had learned their lesson and submitted to my will.
TBH, I think my "tradition"is pretty fawked in the head compared to billions of others but hey in this generation that everybody is a special snowflake, I'll grab mine when its available.
and I hand washed every one of them damn plates with sanitizer wipes too!
I did indulge in cake made of ice cream and today I can honestly say I earned it.
I strive for balance.

How many people want to f*ck with me today!?
This is a "journal" and as a "journal" I'm pretty sure I can write "non-lifter" typical journal stuff too.
So today I'm going to vent about my crappy 3 hours I allowed myself to be in public and ask for your input.
It all went to sh*t when I arrived at the gym and started discussing membership dues with the innocent gym manager. According to their head office I owe them over $200.00 for unpaid membership dues when they were closed for COVID. That ain't happening in my life time. The gym manager is confident we can work this out with them to my benefit. Pissed in my corn flakes right before training.
AND
Then I get out on the gym floor and holy faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawk...
2 dudes doing supersets (against the new rules), not wiping down equipment, and literally visiting with each other 2 feet away from me while I'm lifting. 1 of those dudes is wearing a HELL's ANGELS shirt!
This complicates things.
I can fight anywhere from 1-5 people without fear, but not tango with a full-fledged criminal organization.
AND
Another wanker jumping from machine to machine and not wiping down stuff.
If I speak to them I will lose my sh*t, so I reported them. Just trying to keep my gym open.
The manager did something about it, but not about the guy wearing the HA shirt.
I later called these dudes" wankers who don't clean up after themselves during a pandemic" and they definitely heard me.
-I figured I stood a better chance calling an HA person a "wanker" vs. "an ignorant azzhole". Lo and behold, I am still alive to type about it.
AND
Now I'm almost done lifting and some f'ing tool walks within 1 foot of me (I'm in a BIIIG gym) while I'm on the cables
I STARE this motherfukker down.
It takes him a while to clue in, he gets scared, apologizes, and moves away.
Training is now done, cardio left.
But
AND
all the machines are now taken (fewer available due to social distancing)
taken over by f'n people I've never even seen at my gym before.
So I was displaced by newbies during a pandemic.
It's all good, I can deal.
AND
Fast forward to the grocery store parking lot. Dude doesn't stop at a stop sign and almost hits me, I honk, he honks back.
He parks, so do I.
I confront him with his stupidity not stopping. He calls me names (in the grocery store).
Whoooa, Fiend_73 comes out to play and I start messing with his head in the hopes he would attack first
he threatens to get security, I encourage him to get security AND the police. Meanwhile, the security guard is hiding in a corner watching us.
I invite him to step up to the plate and he declined by insulting my intelligence again
(the 1st thing stupid people do when confronted with their stupidity is to call the other person stupid, and then they proceed to blame everything on the other person and accept no responsibility for their actions)
I knew then and there that this guy was absolutely f'ing clueless and ignorant.
I told him to be grateful for every breath he took from here on in as I could end him right now and there wasn't a damn thing anybody could do to stop me.
Then I let my reasoning win and walked away.
He continued to talk sh*t, and imo, making him look even more like a fool.
On my way out of the store one of the clerks wanted to know what happened and I told her. She smiled and said "That guy comes in here every day and treats us all like crap. It's about time someone told him off because we can't. "
6
I count 5 people and 1 corporation that wanted to f*ck with me today.
Boundaries were breached, lines were crossed, what am I supposed to do, take it up the azz every time someone's stupidity threatens my physical safety and bank account?
I'm striving to be "assertive" in my mind set, not passive, aggressive, or even passive-aggressive.
Undeniably I lost my sh*t with incident #6. I own that. I should have dropped it after the honk.
I've chilled since then.
I wrote this, it was therapeutic, even if no one reads it.
And if you are reading, what are YOUR thoughts on how I reacted today?
Was I right or wrong?
Am I insane or logical?
What would you have done differently?

This was not a "workout", "training session", or even "lifting weights"

That is my confession.

That does sound like a sh!tty day. No way would I pay the gym for gym dues for a closed gym that I couldn't use. My gym stopped billing people the moment they were "forced" to close.
As for the gym goers, that is pretty much normal and honestly expected from a lot of the people I see frequent the local gyms as well as people in general. People suck, and are mostly inconsiderate and selfish. I think the laws of society have made it where people can hide behind security and police while they continue about their days being inconsiderate a holes. What a lot of these inconsiderate people need is a smack upside the head and to be called out on it. Unfortunately by doing this you end up being the bad guy and the law ends up on their side. Makes it even harder for people who actually go out of their way to actually be considerate, also all the more obvious of the ones who are not.
I think you handled it as well as you could with all the compounding bs of the day.
Nice workout today. It might not be up to your standards but it's better than sitting on the couch.

I was just stunned when the manager told me this. She assured me they will make this right.
I was thinking after this that you have the right idea staying at home despite the gyms being open.
and you're exactly right about looking like the bad guy. If you have balls in this day and age to stand up for yourself it seems like one is constantly fighting against a Sh*t ton of people.
I really just want to have peace and my physical safety respected.
Thank-you. I was beginning to wonder if I was starting to lose my sanity.
I like to feel in control of the weights. Although that session hit my chest quite hard I felt completely unfocused as I allowed other things to intrude.

My neighbor across the hall from me (apartment living) decided to have a party @ 3AM and woke me up. After a brief altercation with him and his 5 friends I called the police and put a stop to it. They did not like that and stabbed my door with a knife (srs). He's getting evicted but it will not be soon enough. I don't think this is over...but I am prepared.
I got rid of all the crappy food in my place and today I'm finally ready to get back to why I started this journal in the 1st place, fat loss. I have fornicated the canine enough and it stings to admit it. Committing to a weight loss check in for this Friday.

The home gym has grown on me, but I do miss the mirrors and extra equipment. I sometimes feel like I am in a dungeon in the garage but the only azzhole that needs to be kept in check at times is me.
Couple of good workouts strung together in here. Sorry to hear about your neighbor. Good thing he is on the way out and hopefully it doesn't continue to escalate.
Good idea getting rid of the junk. Our minds have a good way of tricking us into thinking we somehow need that crap. Removing temptation out of the house is one of the best ways to stay compliant. Good luck with the weight loss.
I will be cheering for you.

What's up big Brian!! Just checking in on you although I admit it, I have been creeping your journal from time to time.
Thanks for the reps and the kick ass comment; I'm on spread as usual.
Good luck dialing in the diet. I started a mock contest prep diet Monday and it's going well....it always does the first few weeks, lol.
I'll be checking in brother!

I started training in my basement, had a thing for commercial gyms in basements ever since. I like the grunge factor to home lifting, even liked it during quarantine. In a way its more "bad ass" to train at home. To remove yourself from the immediate distractions of home, and to shrug off the feeling of comfort while at home. That's a lot of mental effort not often considered.
When I was competing I had grocery shopping down to an art form...laser focus, only went down the aisles I needed to and didn't look for anything else but what I needed for my prep. I'm improving lately, but still get distracted by sales on sh*t I don't need.
Nice to see you man!
How can I forget a guy who's competed in both power lifting and a bodybuilding, and we ran journals at the same time. Thanks for checking in. Nice to know you're around.
Been a bit, but how's your dieting going? Notice any changes given we're both not getting any younger?
I wish you the best with that.
I got a long ways to go before I can consider prep but bb'ing shows are non-existent now so there's no rush for anything.
I didn't deliver, felt shame, and told myself I wouldn't return until I had a victory to report. (srs)
I very much appreciate the reminder. I lol'd when I read it and 100% agreed with you. Thank-you. (also srs)
FTR, I'm -4 this week and an update on its way.
and my neighbor has been evicted and all is calm once again.

Shame on Fiend!
pro tip #1;
If someone refers to themselves in the 3rd person, it usually means they're crazy.
Update;
-neighbor evicted and moved. He is alive and I've still never spent a second in a jail cell.
-continuous masking in effect in all stores in my city
-continuous masking at my job and no air conditioning at my worksite during a heat wave do not mix
-masking required entering the gym but not on the gym floor and definitely not while doing cardio
-obtained dead lift of 445x1 using only 25 lb. plates
-strength and endurance improving consistently
-July 21- Aug. 2 weight all over the place, discovered scale at the gym not working, ups the weight between 8-10 lbs., switched exclusively to my home scale
-got my sh*t together Aug. 3. So far, on a 6-day consecutive gym streak and even went when I was too sore to train and did cardio
-Aug. 3 -8, got me -3 lbs. (just getting started)
-bloodwork tests booked for next week as I'm running low on my TRT cream and Vitamin D pills.
bro tip #1;
Get your Vitamin D levels checked. I never thought low Vit D levels could mess with your entire system so much until I started taking the prescription.
update continued;
-I cold turkey ditched 2 video games that I've played for waaaaaay too long (World of Tanks I've played for about 10 years) to make it to the gym earlier. Gaming is a staple in my life and this minor change was a big thing for me to do. I still game, but a little less of it.
World of Tanks post battle screenshot;
I even made my own clan (no KKK) in WoT, the DYEL clan.
Do You Even Lift--DYEL.
There is one member, me.
-my elbows and biceps hurt abnormally , and my left forearm is fawked (I avoid free weights on arm days)
-completed 1 de-load session last week
-got caught up in/stressed over real-life crap and neglected my journal. My bad. I didn't deliver what I said I would but I came back when the mission was done.
In less than an hour I'll be at the gym doing legs and schooling newbs on how to wash 45 lb. weight plates with sanitizing wipes.

No cardio today, I wouldn't want to over train......hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah ahahahahahahahahaha....fukkin bullsh*t.
A 425 squat and over 21k in ONE exercise is why I pussed out on cardio and no regrets.
After and sometimes during leg day I feel like I've been hit by a Mack truck...body feels beaten like a rented mule. Today, that elliptical machine can suck my big fat Canadian with a bad attitude penor.
I walked up to the elliptical ready to go...dripping covid sweat and not a single F was given....and looked at that machine and said "f this" and walked.
Mid-COVID routine on weekends is to get my ass to the gym when it opens at 8 AM to avoid the gym wankers that do gym wanker things.
Gym rats > gym wankers
I just got off the scale and moved myself from -3 this week to -4 lbs.. Will check in next Saturday.
Been gaining weight ever since the gym re-opened, nice to see the reduction.
After I'm done posting all this sh*t
I'm gonna load up a video game and chill

I may not be the strongest
but
I'm still one strong S.O.B.
and after 32 years slinging plates, I damn well should be.

Good news the neighbor survived the eviction. Congrats on the scale drop. Really strong leg day and some solid numbers on those squats. That 445 single with 25s would have been cool to watch. Nice way to get some added ROM.
I used to play a Call of Duty so I get the love of video games. I remember when World of Tanks came out. I always thought it looked like it would be a fun game, but I was too tied up in COD to try something new.

Okay buddy, we're gonna ditch the workout talk and focus on gaming now that I've discovered this about you.
CoD World at War was my 1st multi player game...it was like smoking crack, very addictive. I love WW2 stuff and schooling noobs was very fun. I still play Modern warfare 1 and 2 but not multi player. I was VERY good at World at War. I did cardio for 2 bb'ing preps playing WaW.
World of Tanks used to be fun. Now its all about the Benjamins and how much money they can make, and its taken its toll on game play and the fun factor. I quit because it was more stressful than fun, and I play games for fun. Same thing with World of Warships, played less than a year then it became obvious it was just like WoT.
I've replaced the multi player games with single player ones, like X Com 2. Easier to put down, fun, makes me think, and its slower paced.
Thank-you for your comments. I figure after going to the gym for over 30 years I should be strong by now or I should take up yoga full time.
