Hello, i know i may be asking for much here but can someone provide a basic overview of most commonly used supplements and why you need/ dont need them?
I basically know that the 2 most useful supplements that you do need are whey and creatine but like i need to know why and why not?
Also if you can add what the supplement is supposed to do that would be greatly appreciated.

You don’t need any supplement, hence they’re called ‘supplements’ and not ‘food’.
You can meet your protein requirements from food. Creatine is cheap and recommended but it’s not ‘needed’ in the sense of it being essential to gym performance.
Fish oils are nice to have if you aren’t eating enough oily fish per week but again, wouldn’t be classed as something you ‘need’.Strong & Unstable

Echoing what @faip stated,
Your *basics* will be dependent entirely on what you aren't getting from food.
I keep whey protein in my stash at all times in case my day got to chaotic for me to get it from food alone.
Creatine mono is cheap to add in there too.
I currently consider turmeric as a staple for almost a year now, but once I switch over to utilizing it with food.. I won't need it anymore as a supplement

I believe what hes asking for is something like this:
Supplement name
What its supposed to do?
The recommended daily consumption wether from food or supplement?
Why you may need it?
Why you dont need it?
I would be more than happy to help but unfortunately i dont have that knowledge maybe wait till someone that has it reads this thread
