Had a buddy with some minor skill look at it and he cleaned / re-soldered a few things but told me that it had burned up at some point and someone did a serious (and shady) overhaul.

Issues persisted and I ended up taking it to an old hippie who runs the dopest little vintage guitar shop out of his barn 3 days a week. Claims he has the best amp guy ever...
well his guy had it for 3 months, finally called me to come get it, new tubes, new circuit board etc...

Bring it home and it sounds even better than when I bought it, but 5 minutes later volume is gone. Power is still on but nothing. So frustrated that I unplug it and use my old 30w amp.

Fast forward 6 months and I’m looking at that 100w head, thinking I should buy another one because dat tone... look at a few used on reverb and decide to do a little due dillegance before dropping $600. Find out there’s a fuse after the main power but before the amplification. Pull it and test, fuse tests ok. Say fook it and buy a new one for $4. Amp works perfect now...

So stoked but pissed I could have been using it for the last 6 months...

Chit man, you should have posted your issue on some guitar forum or even here and i'm 100% sure some gear nerd would have helped you out instantly lol

I love Frusciante's style. Wish I could chord as he often does Hendrix-style, with the thumb wrapped over so he can fret the 6th string while muting the 5th with one finger comfortably. Yields a very nice, bright rhythm tone as the "color" notes are clearly separated from the root. My hands are too small so I gotta do a weird adaption that requires crossing the fingers over and isn't very comfortable.

Luckily I can thumb wrap comfortably, which feels good to have the 3 finger more free to hit those embellishes... His playing on Can't Stop and how he mutes every string other than the ones he's fretting while strumming is awesome

Just picked up a fresh set of tubes for the big Marshall (preamps & power tubes). Went with all JJs.

Popped a fuse again Sunday while ripping on the lead (high gain) channel, so I’m thinking its a bad preamp tube. The tech that replaced the board last summer replaced only 1 of the 4 preamps.

Waiting on my multimeter to arrive tomorrow before I do the power tubes so I can bias them, but I tossed the preamps in tonight with a new HT fuse.

Sounds awesome, I think it’s even a bit tighter than before.

I can't stand John Mayer or Joe Bonamossa. They are amazing guitarists but for some reason their playing doesn't do it for me.
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Peace of mind solo cover (Boston). One of my favorite “call and answer” solos, although I’ll never play it as smooth as Tom Scholz, especially after day drinking

On the lead channel of my DSL so it’s way more gain than the original. The new preamps sound awesome. The high gain lead channel is fun but the clean channel with the crunch button is the best tone, and way tighter.

Good playing man, Peace of Mind is my favorite Boston track! Tom Scholz was the man for sure.

Rick Beato broke down More Than a Feeling to a ridiculously detailed level in this youtube video if you're interested. You really get a true appreciation of what a genius Scholz was, as well as what a great vocalist Brad Delp was too.

idk I had to stop watching halfway through lol. It's all "here's a part, here's a description, it's genius/brilliant/perfect". Good for appreciating the song but it's essentially one long results-based analysis.

    Thanks dude!

Scholz definitely is talented, from basketball star to rockstar, building their amps & effects.

I saw them live years back: it was the last concert in the fall for a local outdoor arena, and the following spring is when Brad Delp died. Amazing show.

They opened with Rock n Roll Band. Scholz was at the edge of the stage in shorts and a tee, ripping the solo note for note at 100mph while having a conversation with the sound guy, not even looking at his guitar or what was going on. Insane

Just tossed some new strings on my 03 and gave it a polish. I’m so lazy about changing my strings, I usually only do when I break one.

I'll admit he's a rad player really he is, but IDK there's certain musicians that you listen to where their sound doesn't really appeal to you y'know? Derek Trucks is another example. Fantastic guitarist, but something just feels off to me lol
No man has the right to be an amateur in the matter of physical training. It is a shame for a man to grow old without seeing the beauty and strength of which his body is capable.

Guys, I'm think about transitioning from classic to eletric guitar. Got a classic guitar 10 years ago so I learned how to play with it, but it doesn't really fit the sound I want.

So... need some help from you guys. I don't want to spend a lot of money and I need everything (by everything I mean guitar, amp and cables...I guess thats it, but like I said I don't know **** about the "eletric guitar world").

Ive been looking for some guitars like Ibanez GRX70QA or Fender Squier Bullet Strat (anything better in this price range)?

Like I said I need an amp aswell. Which one do you guys recommend? Fender Champion 20? Fender Mustang? Other one?

    Help me with this guys...

What's your budget? Going by the models you mentioned you seem like you want to keep it in the low hundreds. The Squier Affinities are good guitars for the price, the Jazzmaster one is my favorite. For an amp, the Fender Mustang II works fine for a bedroom player. Don't forget to also get a patch cable and some picks.
