My husband will behave as if he's on his deathbed whether he has a tiny temperature or he's emergency room sick. Which makes it really hard for me to gauge wtf is going on. Like the time he caught gawd knows what virus, and was acting sick as phuk and I was like "yeah sure whatever, drama queen"... Took me a while to figure out I had to rush him to the hospital.

Why are gyms closing? I'm not saying it's wrong but it does seem odd. If I commute to/from work, I'm often so crammed standing on the train (usually on return) I don't have enough space to read a book on my phone, there's not enough space between me and next person to hold a phone horizontal.

But gyms always get singled out for closure (example Italy now closed all country's gyms). Are gyms really worse than e.g. supermarkets or are they viewed as unenessary or more medically unhealthy -- deep breathing extra risk?

Liability. You can sue the gym, I'm not sure if you can as easily sue the subway.

I'd think gyms are more likely to be petri dishes than a supermarket? I'm more likely to get ringworm at one of the 3 gyms a train in than at Wal-Mart.

I used to be the only one using the chemicals to wipe down, now because of this virus everyone is wiping. At least there is a bright side to this.

Well I certainly did with my "new combo"on a paper towel. I put 10 pumps of the disenfectant liquid and 3 pumps of the purell on a paper towel and wipe the handles first. It takes a min to dry because the purell is thick but ultimately you know the combo is better than the sanitizer alone.

FYI for all, there was an infectious disease conference in California on 3/7 where updated data from cases was presented. Of potential interest is that people who develop significant respiratory symptoms typically do so during day 8 or 9 of illness, the illness is gradual onset and high fever is not prominent (unlike the flu which is more sudden and typically does have high fever), <=2% of tested patients in a Chinese cohort had another respiratory virus at the same time (so if you're tested for generic viruses and have one it seems less likely you'll also have coronavirus at least at this point, this may change as it becomes more widespread). Additionally, symptom onset is usually days 2-9 post-exposure with mean day 5 (from a large Chinese cohort).

I don't think he actually believes his drivel. He used to be a respected member on this forum offering great training advice and support among the members; me being one of them.

The company I work for has just (today) gone into global lock down, all conferences, external meetings, travel between offices, face to face meetings.... have been cancelled until the end of March (initially).

Three people that work for me here in Europe have been sent home to self-isolate for 14 days due to vacation travel, links to someone or somewhere that the virus has been confirmed.

Its all getting a bit crazy, but saying that I would still be going to Paris if I had a trip booked!

It just means adults typically do not get two viruses at the same time. Also possible being infected with one virus and having the antiviral aspects of the immune system rec up may make you less susceptible to catching another virus. In the smaller number of pediatric patients we have seen the coinfection rate is higher, but kids frequently are picking up viruses so that is not surprising to me.

Speaking of facts, you have a rather unique, subjective and circular definition of "commies".

As best I can tell, you use it pretty widely and carelessly, and it seems to translate simply into "people I don't like."

So when you say "I hate commies," what comes across is "anyone I don't like = commie, therefore I hate anyone I don't like."
