I made my contribution. It's no wonder he changes his tune on what is the most awesome training technique by the week given his lack of reading comprehension skills.

When I first posted on this forum, you were a complete jerk-off to me, but whatever. I know you are the big man on campus on here. You post something about minimal training, so like anything in life minimal effort brings forth minimal results, just stating some facts.

I’m far from a “big man” here, but the people who ARE familiar with me KNOW that I have never been a “jerk-off” to anyone on this forum.

I’m guessing you said something, and I gave an opinion (or maybe a fact) you didn’t like. I’m sorry it led to a lifelong obsession of threadcrapping me...but I would think that by now we’re “even” and you can move on to better things.

If that’s not enough...I apologize for whatever wrong I did.

Uh, I don't see minimum results. I think Grub looks better than probably 98-99% of the people our age. And he unashamedly is willing to subject himself to real scrutiny by photographing himself shirtless up close instead of, you know, like maybe from a distance with a tank top on

What you dont realize....is that after years and years of ever-escalating efforts while at the same time ever decreasing 'results', many of us guys with experience have realized just how incredibly easy it is to MAINTAIN a pretty good physique.

The funny part is many of us would love not just 'minimal' results, but ANY results. After 15-20 years of training, they just dont come like they used to.

My first three years (back training with 7 years prior to taking time away), I could still see and track progress. The bitter truth, is I made more "progress" in the first 2 months of training, than I have in 5-6 years.

Once you have put the time in, you too might be able to figure it out. Till then, you really dont have a platform to stand on to give commentary. If you meant well, your comment comes off as disrespectful. I am sure Grub has a better physique than 90% of men 40+ on here. Again, you are in no position to judge.

Just a pictorial update...halfway through month 9. Mostly “intuitive” training...randomly pick 1 exercise per body part right before I do it, do a set of 13-16 to 1 rep before failure followed by 2 rest pause sets to failure with a 5 second rest in between. About 1-2 minutes between body parts (or sets, if you prefer). Entire full body takes about 30 minutes. “Diet” as we know it is nonexistent...I just eat healthy when hungry.

Have remained aproximately the same weight. A little fat gain on the lower abs, some density loss, especially in the legs, which I’ve had trouble mentally pushing.

Current pics from last 2 workouts....

Look great in those latest pics grub.

Even with 24 hour chitness reopened, their one hour workout limit means I'm still doing minimal training as well, so far so good.

One set of hammer inclines @20 reps to failure, wait 5 mins then a couple of lighter easier backdowns with less weight, then a single set of shoulder press and some high rep max pump sets of pushdowns/laterals to finish

Myo style reps have proven to be a pretty effective “time saver” for me. Although I was looking for less “mental time” than physical time.

Myo reps are breaking a large set up into mini to-failure or almost-max efforts?

I have a 5 minute song that I try to get as many reps as possible in small cluster sets, one set of that is plenty especially for legs or back! 30 rm becomes @70 reps and you want to die

Not mentally relaxing and my blood tests show big creatinine spikes even 5 days after one of those sets!

    +1

Although it may not be the best or the fanciest, I love my home gym. Especially these days.

Grub, nice work. I have been doing the above few years now. I benched the heaviest I have in over a year yesterday. I was really struggling with my shoulder a few months ago and re-started cissus and glucosamine. It has really got to feeling better these past two months. I also have not trusted my back since I tend to tense so hard, I have noticed back cramping.

Anyway I normally just bench with 135 the past 2 years, doing very slow reps. Sometimes I get brave and go 185. Last night I felt good so I ended up going up to 225 which was feeling really light. I went up to 275x5 very slow reps which again was nice and light. I resisted the urge to go up to 315.

Given I have not put that much tension on my chest in a few years, I did not want to risk injury. Pretty sure 315 would have felt not much different than 275. 275 felt very little resistance going up. Like zero resistance off the bottom. Kinda weird. I did not want to risk pressing with even the slightest fatigue so I decided before I even lifted off that I would do 5. Pretty sure 315x5 would have not been a problem either.

As disappointed and frustrated I am at times about the past few years. It is cool to see that many years of pounding have not just evaporated. The big question is how hard to push. I dont know what the answer is for me right now....
