30 YO Starting out - Supplement Advice

    Hi all,

30 yr old male from the uk if its relevant....

Basically a bit of a gym noob, been kinda going on and off my whole life and now want to start taking it seriously. I have been going for around 9/10 months now and have had some improvements to my body.

I dont really track my macros, been meaning to do this but I eat 4/5 meals a day and I would say im meso/ectomorph (inbetween)

Just wondering if there is any golden supplements I should take, understand this question has probably come up a lot but I want to know specifics. I currently take a Holland and Barretts own brand Multi Vit and Multi Mineral supplements (purchased today)
I take myprotein Whey as well as Creatine @5mg daily mixed in with the whey shake.

Should there be anything else really? And should I move away from this creatine and buy a better one as I see people rave on about creatine a lot! So unsure if brand matters or not.

    Cheers

Creatine is creatine, don’t fret it.

Maybe look at a good quality fish oil but other than that, sort your diet and training out and forget about supplements for now.

Creatine is the only supplement that I think everyone who lifts should take, simply because there's literally no reason not to.

Other than that, like above, focus on your diet. Whey powder is fine if you fall a bit short of your protein goal for the day, but a lot of people start to rely too heavily on it and end up neglecting actual food

Ok cheers guys I’ll stick at it and try that. My chest never grows so I’ve tried changing my routine from bb focus to more db focused so will see how that goes.

Look into Oximega Fish Oil for a quality product.

The golden things are nutrition, routine, and rest. You don't seem to have any idea what your macros are, start there. You probably need a better routine, see Workout Programs about that.

The "basics" I'd generally use as a baseline are creatine, fish oil (aim for 2-3g combined EPA/DHA per day unless you regularly get Omega 3's in your diet), possibly a multi vitamin, and protein as needed to hit your daily goal/macro.
This is not the end, no it’s not even the beginning of the end. But it is perhaps, the end of the beginning.

If you're not going to bother taking nutrition seriously, you shouldn't be wasting money on supps, as you're already wasting training with a poor dietary plan.
