So I know that you need a fabric, non-stretch tape measure to take accurate measurements.
I have two fabric, non-stretch measures, but one is very thin (about 1/3 of an inch) and the other is almost an inch wide.
The thinner tape measure gives me measurements of 1/2 an inch smaller than the wider tape does. Which is more accurate?
Thanks.

Different tape measures give different measurement readings?

I've done enough calibrations in my time to know that you can't do one using vague descriptions as a reference.

Hold them both up to a ruler/yardstick to see which one's measurements are correct (not stretched out.) If they are both correct, you're experiencing a user error.

Re. Tape measures are different HEIGHTS
Both tape measures are equal length wise, both measure 60 inches, and the inch on each one is the same (I measured them both against a plastic ruler).
It's the vertical height of the tape measure that's different; one is only a 1/3 inch, the the other is a thicker, 1 inch tape measure. I'll attach an image to show what I mean:
See how the white tape is very thin, height wise, whereas the yellow one is thicker?

Now we're using stock images of tape measures....

If you measure them and they are identical in length then its user error plain and simple. The height of the tape does not affect its length.... **** me I can't believe this is a real conversation.

Tough crowd.
At the end of the day, OP... it doesn't matter which one is more accurate. Just pick one and use it every time you take measurements. The number isn't important, the trend downward in the measurements is.
